I know this subject has been beat to death
in other forums but wanted to see if anyone here can offer any advice before I spend 600.00 or better on a decent mattress. We have the usual mattress over the engine bay area in the rear of the coach laying on plywood - which is hinged for access to the engine compartment. No box spring. The regular house mattress currently there is the softest Sealy you can buy but it's still like laying on a brick, which I assume is due to the lack of a box spring. Due to our layout I can use either the RV queen size or regular house queen size, I have no length constraints. At home I have a 90% waveless waterbed which I sleep well on, but it doesn't even feel like a waterbed, you wouldn't even know that it was one. I also sleep well on Sleep Number beds at about the medium settings.
In other forums I've read that the memory foam mattresses are softer when placed over wood versus conventional mattresses which require a box spring to operate as intended.
I'll go to some of these local places and lay the mattress on the floor to see how they feel and try them out first but I value advice from the members here before I embark.
Any advice would be welcomed.
