Yes, there is a time and place for everything. The point many of us are making is wouldn't it be nice if those that purporting to be today's educated could actually speak as though they are educated. We all bounce in and out of different environments and situations. Most times we can adjust how we act and speak to fit the situations. Many kids today can't. It's evidenced when we try to check out of a restaurant and they can't make change. As earlier stated they can't compose a proper paragraph.

IMO the writer should do their best to express themselves clearly and coherently.

Yes we can interpret the various versions of spelling and grammar. There are many examples sent around where words are misspelled, numbers are substituted for letters, etc.

I guess the question is: Do we want to read posts that appear to be translated from an owners manual written in a foreign language and then translated? If you want to be taken seriously you have to treat your reader with respect. Writing in a form that makes it difficult to read results in ignoring or skipping over ideas that may have great merit.

I understand the occasional misspelled word or grammatical error but have little time to wade through and disect text for a gem or two. That includes all lower case text with or without punctuation and long blocks of text without paragraphs.

Not to mention that a simple misplaced comma can change the entire meaning of a sentence.

If I have to try and interpret what someone is trying to say, I generally skip that post and move on to the next one.
