Memorial Day Mishaps!!!

Hey All,

Hope you all had a pleasant weekend. Bob and I had a good one but one filled with little hiccups....

We signed up for a new rally...a Good Sam Rally in Greenfield, MA. It was less than two hours from home so we thought it would be fun...The rally was great and the people attending were super, but our adventures getting there and back were a little hairy....

I foolishly listened to my GPS to get us there and although traveling on Route 2 for a while was unavoidable..(lots of single lanes due to road contruction and small town roads), the route took smack up against a low bridge. Knowling that I could "probably" not be able to make it and not wanting to take the chance...I slowly backed up and was able to make a very slow u-turn to get us out of there. A hot day...a heated hubby...and two incestenty barking and agitated dogs...HATED IT!!!

We had a very good weekend and enjoyed the entertainment and the Lobster Dinner on Saturday night. Then....

The way home was totally my fault...I took a wrong turn out of the fairground and ended up on a residential street with low branches. I was looking frantically for a road out before the dead-end sign at the end of the street and never saw the low branches... Well, after hearing, what seemed the end of the world happening on our roof, I stopped and looked to see if portions of my roof or dome or AC unit was lying on the road. WHen I could not find any immediate damage. I slowly made my way backwards until I could comfortably turn around in a drive way guided by a very kind gentleman.

I am home now in my driveway and I am afraid to venture onto the roof to survey the possible damage. I am not good with heights, so I will call our son to head up there. There were no downed or broken branches on the road, so I am hoping that it was more noise than damage. But what do I look for if there is damage? Will the damage be apparant and how do I fix it? Or will it be invisble yet insidious with small leaks to damge the interior???

OH... the Joys of driving a 40 foot rolling home!!!!

We're sitting in the KOA at Waldport Oregon. Fulltiming so no need to leave today. Watching all the weekenders packing up and pulling out. A guy in a long TT across from us just hitched up, decided to turn right out of his site to go the "wrong way" out and save a short drive around the campground. He had to stop and backup on full lock to position for the turn. Crunch as the back end of the truck took out the LP bottle cover. Pulled forward still on full lock and the back of the TT took out the fence at the side of the campsite. He gets out, looks at the damage and starts yelling at his DW for not giving him directions. Our free entertainment for the morning. We'll leave on Thursday when the crowds have all gone.

RV Park follies can indeed be entertaining, but nothing beats the boat ramp for a good giggle on holiday weekends.

Forrest Gump had it right..............

I have a Rand McNally GPS in which I enter Class A, length and can say "no U turns". I like it.
