Mice

Spray everything with bleach and wear a mask when doing cleanup. No cure for the Hantavirus that they carry!

Glue traps= what am I supposed to do with this glue covered mouse now.
I prefer instant death.

We live in the woods. I buy a lot of traps a year. I also have 7 cats. Mice don’t care. lazy cats.

I prefer the traps with the fake cheese trigger. I use a liquid attractant on peanut butter. The fake cheese part just makes sure they step on the trap. It’s claim to attract mice is bogus. Lol I have some with the metal trigger that is curled up to hold the bait. They either miss the mouse and/or eat the bait. Lol

I saw the post in “what did she let me buy” thread. I almost called a
/ thread hijack since it seems to be a tow bar thread.

Got a couple of generations of a mouse families in the house last year. They made a big mess and prompted a renovation of the complete kitchen still in process.

I had to use the glue traps through out the house to get them all. Some one asked, what do I do with a glued mouse?
Straight into the fire pit alive or not. After what they costs me in home repairs, I have no simpathy for them.
Knowing also what Diseases they carry into the fire pit is the best option.
I prefer glue traps because if I border an area they have to come through, the glue will not miss.

We tired all the traps/remedies. The glue traps worked best in our case.

Mice

The best mousetrap I’ve ever seen was from a older Hungarian immigrant. It was a 2x4 with 1 inch holes drilled in about 3 inches deep. A thin face board 1/4 thick and spaced over the holes with same hole pattern, leaving a small slot infront of the 2x4 hole for a loop of wire, think hangman loop. This wire was spring loaded to come up. A small thread was used to pull the spring down and block the hole. The bait was put in behind the spring.

Operation was simple, the mouse smells the bait, sticks head thru the noose, chews the string to get to the bait, spring engages and traps the mouse.

I had one of these with about 6 hole traps, and 5 mice lined up.

After we returned from a trip and found mice dropping we started placing traps and FRESH CAB inside, but later when we were getting ready for another trip I found they had eaten some of the vacuum lines on the V10 engine. Fortunately, it didn't cost too much to have a friend fix it, and we had discovered it a few days before leaving.

Now we use FRESH CAB and baited traps and glue traps inside.

Outside, we use Glue pads near the front tires with a string attached so they can't drag it away. The glue pad is baited with nuts and peanut butter.
We also use glue pads in the engine compartment tied to a string. To top it off we added an electric mouse trap. You'll see a block of wood next to it that we use to just keep the hood open.

On the baited traps I use a glue gun and glue a nut on the trigger device and smear it with a little peanut butter.

Seems like some times the electric one isn't working but other times it kills them right away.

I recently got some super glue pads since a friend said it was actually the rabbits that got into his engine compartment and ate the wires. He set up a Game camera and actually got pictures of them on the engine block. We have a lot of rabbits around so I don't' know if it was rabbits or mice but I'm gonna kill what ever gets in the RV.

I tried all of the above..to no avail...I put a very bright led light rope under the MH and a solar flashing rope light in the motor area. No signs of mice since. But it's very bright at night! LOL

The problem with mice is they will follow the trail of other mice, so if one got in others will follow,

Maybe on the silverware but not the upholstery or cherrywood cabinets! That's what the Lysol spray is for.
Taking my home vacuim out to vacuum up the droppings as it has a HEPA filter, masks, gloves and Lysol are already there.

Went out and found another one in the trap, all the rest had not been touched. Started the heat and will go back and start the cleanup.

I've had great luck with this electric trap-Think it runs off 8 AA's, lasts for many kills. Live out in the sticks & kept hearing rustling in my office in mobile home. Removed light fixture & placed it in attic space. Next morning looked up through the light panel & saw a tail 14" long hanging from trap. That sucker weighed in at just under 4lbs! Wife was happy to move into our new home across the property!
