About 6 years I ran just under 900, NY - FL. wasn't worth it at all, next day I just slept all day, gained nothing.

Since then 500-600 miles works for us,
up at 5-6AM, stop at 7 or so for breakfast, stop for lunch, off the road by about 5PM.

Headed to NY next week, going to try heading north, out a bit later 7-8AM, go 300 well into GA, then 400-450 for 2 days into NY.

When I leave to go south it's 1000 miles from my home to Vegas so I do it in 3 days. Perfect for me as I'm the sole driver. Stop often for the dog to do his thing and me to stretch my legs. Retirement is all it's cracked up to be

If traffic, or something interesting slows me, that 6 hrs driving is where I stop. If I'm on an interstate with little traffic, and no sights to see, I have more free time when I stop.

My previous Ford chassis RV was a lane wandering arm wrestling rough riding butt buster, so 400 miles a day was our tops. Aslo, the DW likes to get off the road early so we are settling down for the day around 4pm. Neither of us like to be on the road at night unless ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.

For us, it is the insane drivers we have to deal with that makes towing stressful. We typically drive 250 miles or less on a travel day and that is plenty. We never drive after dark. We encounter so many with poor driving skills, sometime we feel lucky to arrive at our next destination alive.

When traveling south and returning north we will average about 500/600 per day. When touring we will do whatever gets us to the next planned campground, generally less than 200.

Here's my rationale: I drive the distance such that the cost in fuel plus campground = the cost of gas in the auto plus a good motel (ex: HI or Hampton). This comes to about 300 miles for our MH. (also depending on the $/gal)

Also I try not to drive more than 3 days in a row then stay a full day with the MH parked and driving the toad to some place we want to visit.

We have settled in on hrs not miles. 3 or 4 2 hr sessions per day gets me out of the seat more often and still gets us down the road a fare ways.

what ever works for you.

One of the other benefits of low milage days is the ability to use something other than the super slabs. There are a lot more roads that are fine truck routes and a whole lot more interesting than the interstate system!!

Prior to retiring time was of the essence so we would drive 6-800 miles a day to get to our destination. If I was traveling solo, minimal stops so I could make good time and distance and did 850 miles, a long day but made good time. I do not get tired or fatigues while driving and I enjoy it.

Now that we are "retired" we can meander and usually limit ourselves to 300 miles unless my wife gets the bug to get home quickly, we'll then push it to 600 miles.

I agree with LT46..leave at 9...fuel up and stop between 3 and 4 pm....I also don't stop for lunch..stop in rest area, wife has cigarette,bathroom stop..walk around rv and on the road...Chuck

We have two young children and try to limit our miles to 350-400. Much more than that and the kids get really restless and cranky.

My 71yr old father on the other hand wants to get where he's going ASAP. Parker, AZ to Idaho Falls in one day, and that includes having to have 4 trailer tires changed south of SLC.

On the road by ten stop at first rest areas dog get excited when we start out and needs to pee and I can always go if pulling car trailer like to tighten straps stop at noon for lunch the stop for the day at three how ever many miles that is that's what we do I have done 900 but that was when I was young and dumb and full of something I forget what
