I added mineral oil to my new coach batteries in January (2014). Have made 3/4 uva year without needing any additional water. I did not add mineral oil to my new chassis batteries; have had a little corrosion there. Will be interesting to see if I can make it the full year on the coach batteries without needing water. \ken

You can't check the SG with the mineral oil in it. But you don't need to. The best thing is a good Battery meter. I used the oil to keep down maintenance on the terminals. Over 15 months and no corrosion.

I've had mine for a year. I have checked the 6 volts every three months. The water is not up to the neck of the cell but it is covering the plates. Should I fill them up to the neck of the cell? I keep it plugged in all the time and have absolutely no corrosion.

Re-fill to the bottom of the split tube, no more. The split allows for gas to escape, otherwise it bubbles the acid out with the gas.

I agree with thread #1, I was reading in the Motorr Home magazine that it seems like a good idea but the Manufacture of Batteries did not agree.

I have 8v check water every other month add a little about twice a year. They are over 5 years old still going strong

I had a 96 class A. Replaced coach batts in 2001, were still great when I traded in 2011. No MO. Just proper charging and a bit of dist water about once per year.

Some folks get behind the 8-ball when they ignore their batts and they get low in water, fry the batts, fry the charger, etc.

Last Fall, a big boom. Batt blew up on the neighbors MH. Was gassing. Took out the other 3. Acid everywhere! No, he never checked them. Charger was toasted too.

Keep-full systems are okay, and may prevent some problems. But I prefer to actually look at mine and fill as required. A couple minutes a month, and full peace of mind.
