Looks nice, but how do you keep stuff from flying everywhere when you're on the road?

Not much to this one. I added a small clock to the dash that I can easily see using 3M command strips. The one on the radio is too hard to read.

That is what I want to do, but it does not seem like there is much substance to hold them on.

You need to make backer plates to spread out the load support for the lifts. If you just attach them to the door, they will pull out. Flat metal to spread the load, maybe both sides of the door depending on door size.

We use what we call "grippy foam" shelf liner. The stuff that does not allow objects to slide. I found over the years that stuff in cupboards did not fall against the door or become misplaced so why should this happen when there are no doors. We have only had two items fall from the shelves. One was a bottle of wine (before I added the "grippy stuff" to the wine rack, and another item when we had a severe side to side shake. So I think the open shelf concept is working and the Mrs. is happy.

Rascal, where did you get this Grippy Foam? Can you show a picture of the package? Thanks.

I can't remember the exact name of the product, but we purchased it from Home Depot and possibly Walmart. I comes in varying shades from Dark Brown to White.
