This is a fantastic thread! I spend a lot of time figuring out new ways to improve and update my RV. Thanks to this thread I have a few new ideas to add to the list.

If you'd like to read about some of the ones I've already done (with pictures!) and laugh at the dumb things that happen all too frequently take a look at:

WanderMan

You'll find some cool stuff, like the Solar charging system..and new energy monitoring to some basic cabinet and LCD TV retrofits.

More each week. I am a compulsive tinkerer!

Thanks again!

Convert side turn lights to LED

Part of my LED conversion program included converting existing side lights to LED. These lights were the worst on coach as far as wet location goes since they were mounted on wheel well panels and got lots of water from both sides. After reading spec’s on most of the T10 LED’s (to long or not waterproof) I decided to make my own.
Found “3528 3 LED Waterproof SMD strip 12V” on Ebay and used T10 plugs left over from other projects. Just remove old wire from plug, strip wire to abut inch push thru holes and fold over with one wire on each side and inject a little silicon into hollow base of plug. Plug used in picture even had a plastic cap. Note: I used same plug replace step on some interior lights as adapter plugs created to much wire in housing blocking light or just plane looked bad. Project cost under $2.50 for two lights and 30 minutes.

Dash Air foot vents

Driver and passenger side lower vents poorly located and installed. Drivers side was placed behind decorative panel and hardware, blocking a lot of the air flow. Other side vent was right in way of tall passengers feet. Both screwed to small L bracket with no backing for screw. Were being held only by very thin decorative vent trim ring. Relocated L brackets and reinstalled with small backing plate for additional strength. Project cost $0.00 and twenty minutes.

Got tired of all the clutter under the sofa. I liked the storage under the sofa i added over the winter to replace the dinette. I had some spare rails so I built a drawer. I spent too much on 3/4 inch finish oak plywood to make it look professional. Routed the joints. DW got me a great router for fathers day last year and I have been looking for an excuse to use it. Counter sunk the srews and glued as well. Had to trim the bad side due to the bolts in the jacknife catching. Now I know why the new sofa had the drop cut in the drawer.

Total cost about $40 for plywood and 2 hour in labor.

I also had Lowes rip it at no cost. Made the job easier.

Now each kid has their own storage and no more arguing over sharing.

Speaking of chips dip and morning coffee...

Here is my next project. A necessity for morning coffee or too much Tex-mex

So you're going to install side by side commodes? Not sure I'd want that.

Well one is to replace the old one.... But now that I think about it, two could come in handy if I have too much tequila. No need to change posisions.

Oh yes and the funny part is if you go to the national training center at Fort Irwin, Ca. They still have them- 30 on each side facing each other( well slightly offset to account for gear and legs). Some memories are meant to be stirred! Just not the ones that involve a 55gallon drum 6 foot stick and mogas.
