Red face MOLDY bedroom

Hey. Y'all... we are currently in Oregon ( Willamette Valley) Our Monaco Dynasty has xl twin beds on either side of the bedroom, up against the wall, and the end of the coach. (No slides)... The beds are snug up against the walls, and we get mold. I know it's because it's colder outside than inside which makes the walls "sweat", which gets trapped by the bedding, but what can we do to stop it??? I have breathing problems, and I'm sure this is not helping the situation.

Anyone else out there have this particular challenge to this crazy life we've chosen to live?????

Don't put the mattress snug to the wall for sleeping. Leave a small space. In the morning move it out about a foot so everything has a chance to dry out. We had that problem in a travel trailer we owned. Moving the mattress out cured it.

How about a dehumidifier?

A dehumidifier will not take care of the problem behind a mattress.

Find a breathable product, like a mesh of some kind that you can install between the wall and the bed. This will make an airspace that will allow air to flow.

From some web site - Condensation is formed when air that contains water vapor comes into contact with a cold surface. ... The colder it gets outside, the colder the interior surface temperature of the walls. The more water vapor is in the air, the less cold the walls have to be for condensation to start showing up.

So after cleaning up the mold and water, using a dehumidifier to remove the water from the air might help stop it from reoccurring.

By the way 20 team mule borax kills mold. Bleach will, but does not penetrate. On cup borax to one gallon water.

Place a spacer between wall and mattress. I placed some round nylon downing cut to fit and then I velco'd them in place it worked for me

Thanks for all the suggestions. Moving the beds is physically not possible for me. We are looking at quarter inch boards with a step off of quarter inch or so for air flow. I think we can compress those mattresses that much. We are headed South after Christmas, so it won't be an issue once we're on the road again. We've been full-timing for 8 years now.
