Does any one have a motorcycle or golf cart lift installed on their MH? I'm interested in finding out your experiences, approximate cost, and other things I should be aware or wary of. Looking at Hydralift. What other brands are out there that work well?

I don't have one but I would suggest you load the coach up fully ready to travel. Full of fuel, propane and occupants then weigh the coach's axles independently and the coach as a whole. Find out what the weight carrying capacity is and compare with carrier and load you want to add to the coach. Good luck, stay safe and keep us posted.

Thanks for the suggestions. Having others that provoked some thoughts also so I'm rethinking some things since I am a single axle.

I talked to a man who has a Tuscany with a well built home made golf cart rack. It has 3 receivers and it takes a fork lift to pick it up and put it on. He also pulls a jeep behind it. I'm guessing it weights at least 2000 pounds and a golf cart weighting about 1000 pounds so he has around 3000 pounds cantilevered off the back.

My friend has a Cruiser Lift on his 40 Monoco. He has an 1800 goldwing on the lift. Check out the Cruiser lift site, they have a formula that will give you the overall weight on the rig after everything is taken into consideration. It works great on Bob's rig, but he is on the max end for weight.

I have a CrusierLift on my 40' HR pusher. I also went with the optional wheel chock to enable me to load and unload it by myself. Don't need wife to hold it while trying to strap it down. Works fine, I can carry either my 1500 Honda GW or the 1300 V-Star and have no dificulities except that you will need to wash it before riding because get real dirty in just a little rain behind the MH. I use the Tow Vehicle Extention and a tow dolly for my car. I added 2 ratchet tie downs between the Lift and the hitch and of the Tow Extention to add additional stability so the rig doen't bounce around as much. I removed the Kick Stand Tray because it is not needed if you add the Wheel Chock. Their web site is www.crusierlift.com. Before buying the CrusierLift I looked at the Hydralift and the Blue Ox/Overbuilt Lifts. They are all good systems but the HydraLift will run you about twice as much as the CrusierLift after you get it installed. The CrusierLift can also be easly removed by one person so if you don't want to take a bike on the trip you don't have to carry the lift either.

I'd pay special attention to the rear axle GAWR and the rear tire load ratings. A trip to the scales to see how much room you have to work with would be a good idea before you get too far down this road. It would be VERY easy to overload the rear axle hanging anything heavy off the back of the MH as you have not only the weight of the lift and load but also the cantilever effect that's taking load OFF the front axle adding load to the rear axle.

Hydralift is probably going to be your best choice, do a search and read why. These are in the $5k range.

Note: Do not weld without disconnecting the engine/tranny ECM. Make sure your installer knows this.

Note: A lift is MORE than additive to the rear axle weight because of leverage. It will actually load the rear axle significantly more and off load from the front axle. The formula is as follows in the PDF attachment below. Page 4 of the PDF for the formula and the other pages for how to determine if your RV can handle a lift. This is MUST reading.

Hi Texus Guy, I have no experience to offer, but I would sure think hard on the comments by Rusty JC, especially the last couple lines. Makes sense to me. I also thought the idea and picture by Nick Bremen was an inexpensive alternative. good wishes, old trucker

Just beware most gassers or even Dp's don't have 1000# tongue weight. My electric cart weights about 1000# pounds plus the weight of a trailer like Mick Brennan is using.
