We bought both of our i2s used from a dealer that did the Segway tours on the beaches in Orange County, California. They put 1,000 miles on them from the tours and then sell them used. It took me about 2 minutes in the dealer parking lot to get the hang of it. We used ramps to roll them into the back of our Jeep Liberty for the first 8 months. That got to be too big of a hassle so we bought a double Segvator electric lift and it is totally awesome. The only problem is we can't use that storage area of the Jeep, except through the back seats, but it's definitely worth it!

How much were they? We'd like to have a couple but just can't afford the new ones.

People think it is hard or that you need a good sense of balance, but you're right. After about five minutes you're a pro and hardly have to think about it. The Segway does all the balancing.
