My family and friends are already making plans for camping Thanksgiving weekend. MY TT does not have a oven. I am doing some research on the portable countertop type ovens and I found a couple of Coleman ovens. I was checking out the ovens online but can't find many reviews of the products. It appears Coleman has two models. One appears to be a toaster oven and the other is a camp oven (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...duct_id=895626).

Does anyone have either of these products and if so how do you like them?

What types of food have you cooked/baked in the oven? I was specifically curious about how macaroni and cheese or sweet potato casserole would do in the ovens.

Hi,! Yeah, we used a coleman folding oven for years, when we tented, and when we had our pop-up. Worked pretty well! At least good enough for biscuits, shortcake, etc. I don't think we ever used it for much else. What about a "dutch" oven? We've got 3 and use them all the time for just about everything. We've had our current RV for over 2 years and only used the oven once!( But maybe that's the wife's plan...Get ME to do the cookin" outside!!)...crow

Hi Andy and Jennifer,

We bought the Coleman oven for just that same reason. It is powered with a small propane bottle, and has a glass door. It will fit a 9" casserole dish, as long as the pan does not have handles. We used it once so far to cook a fresh fish that we were given while camping at a lake. We wrapped the fish in foil to avoid getting the smells in the oven.

It actually worked very well, it cooked quickly and evenly, and we were even at about 5,000 feet where cooking usually takes longer. All in all we were very happy with the performance of the oven. That is the only thing that the wife would changeabout our MH if she could, and that would be to have a built in oven instead of a convection microwave.

The oven is well worth the money as long as you are reasonable about how much you can put in it at one time. It's not as good as a built in, as we dry camp a lot, but it works to bridge the gap.
