Need Help

Greetings! I am new to this forum but not new to rving. Have a 40 foot 2000 Alpine motor home and have made several trips in it and have a big trip to the west coast planned this fall. As my motor home is 14 years old and needs some occasional maintenance, I am finding part availability to be a problem. In particular I have a Dometic NDR 1492 refrigerator that needs a thermocouple, part # 2931826-02/4. The refrigerator works fine on AC but the gas feature does not work. Dometic no longer makes this part. I have searched high and low and come up short. Does anyone have any ideas? If someone knows of a scrapped refrigerator with this part I would buy the thermocouple. Thanks

Welcome to the Forum and so sorry to hear about your fridge. The only thing I can suggest is to do a search on the Internet. Be sure to try E-bay. The other method would be to check with Dealer(s). You never know what parts they have sitting around. Good luck on your search and wish I could help more.

I my experience each manufacturer sources a component from another manufacturer. I searched for the part number and came up with some thermocouplers. Irt could be the Dometic changed the part number. I did not find the part number listed. However you could call Dometic and see if the part number was changed. Also you can visit the following web sites and call the vendor. Give them model and part number that you have. They should be able to look it up and offer you suggestions on replacement. Good Luck!

Unless it has a special mount, you should be able to use any thermocouple as long as it's the same type. TCs are usually identified by their wire color. You can probably do some creative substitution to make it work, especially if you have a friend that's experienced with refrigeration.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. One of the suggested rv suppliers says they have the thermocouple and I ordered one last night. I hope it is the right one and that it works. Be nice to have it work correctly. Thanks for your inputs.
