Need immediate information on awning toppers

Sorry to be asking a redundant question but my search on the subject did not render a suitable answer for me.

Recently, a month or three, there was a discussion and a consensus on a good topper awing. It may have been Tough Tops but I could not for the life of me find that thread.

So my request is (NO Carefree or Dometic responses please): What other brand/company makes an excellent topper awning.? Links if you can.

The LCI Solara was talked about on this recent thread (3rd page): Slide Topper. However, it looks like a new product with no track record.

Thanks.

There is a company called Stone Vos in Tampa that make outstanding toppers at a competitive price. The owner is a motorhome owner and he does a lot of business with Monaco owners. The fabric and thread he uses are the best available. You provide measurements and he makes them up.

Toughtops only makes replacement fabric for Carefree and Dometic hardware that you already have. We put the Toughtop fabric on our Dometic hardware last year.

Pitch

I replaced 3 slide toppers with Tough Tops fabric and wouldn't recomment it unless you have lots of 'Pitch'.

The fabric I had on before allowed several gallons of water to pool in the central area of the topper.

I ordered Tough Tops fabric and during the install I discovered that I already had Tough Tops fabric.

In the process of installing I discovered that the new fabric allowed just as much water to pool up there as the old. Adding tension to the roller had no effect at all.

Our coach does not appear to have much 'Pitch', maybe 1 to 1.5 inches and even the new fabric forms a big bag for water to collect in. Pooling water up there is a PITA!

I wasted $450 and several hours. If your current slide toppers don't appear to have lots of pitch these would not be a good choice.

I replaced mine with Tough Top Awnings and am very happy with the price, service, and quality.

Tough Tops are definitely better than original. We installed a set a year ago, and they're great. They are thicker than our original A&E slide covers so they don't flap in the wind nearly as much.

They have a video on their website that shows how to install them. They say you need 2 people, but 3 or even 4 won't hurt, especially on the longer awnings. We had 2 people on ladders and one on the roof.

We replaced our topper about three years ago with fabric from this guy RV Slide Out Awnings, Replacement Fabric and it has held up really well. The price was good as well. DW and I did it ourselves in about one hour. Here are smoe pictures. http://sdrv.ms/WGZzXJ We did have to readjust the stop because this fabric is thicker than the OEM stuff. We had Dometic to start with.
