Need tow from Chicken Ak to Anchorage

Hi, we are helping a friend who has a 38' class A. They cannot find a tow service willing to tow from Chicken Gold park to Cummins in Anchorage. Coachnet has told them that they have been turned down by 12 companies so far. Their cummins diesel motor is shot and phone and internet is non existent where they are.

They might have better luck with a tow to Fairbanks. One of the companies that provide service to the trucking companies hauling to the oil fields might be willing to send a truck. Most of that happens out of Fairbanks.

Biggest part of the problem , is probably timing, every piece of equipment capable of doing the job has been booked months in advance, waiting for the road conditions to be good enough for heavy loads. I'd bet that some of those companies said we can book you in 3 weeks , but Coachnet and your friend aren't in a position to wait.

Wouldnt it be almost as economical to replace the engine where the coach is or nearby as it would for the tow? By the time it gets to Anchorage you still have to install an engine after paying for the tow.

Here are two Fairbank's companies who listed heavier towing equipment.

~ Ron's (907)-452-2448

~ A&C (907)-457-3965

In Tok:

~ Willard's RV service & towing (907) 883-5508

~ Frontier Towing (907)-883-5515

There is a lot of heavy equipment that gets moved around AK. I'm sure there are dead-head flatbeds going back to Anchorage from Fairbanks, Tok or Delta Junction.

Try Buddy's Garage in Soldotna Buddys Garage - We Know Trucks phone 907-262-4085.

He may not want it but may know someone who will do it. He may also be able to do onsite repair. VERY highly recommended.

This fellow bought a MH and swapped in a temporary gas engine to get his purchase home so he could work on it. He obviously has some skill.

This is likely not practical in this case but if all else fails.

Has anyone considered talking to the school division or a private bus company. They will likely have a tow truck or an arrangement for a tow truck to deal with their buses.
