Needs information please

I would like to correspond with other single women who have decided to Rv. This is something I have thought about doing for a long time...I have about a year before I can leave my commitments here in IA...but at 61 years young I feel if I want to do this I better begin planning for it. I like the idea of a Class B or smaller type camper van for ease of driving...I know NOTHING about leveling and maintaining a bigger RV...( Nor do I know anything about the maintaining of a smaller one either) I do use a wheel chair now and then for the times I would need to "walk" any great length. Are any of the class B wheel chair accesable? I am leery of parking and handling a bigger vechicle as I stated. I have always wanted to travel and see this wonderful country of ours up close...Is it safe for a woman traveling by herself? I recently found the courage to leave a long very unhealthy marriage and am now single. I feel I have a new chance in life to feel alive and not in a controlling/depressing atmosphere, but one where I am happening to life instead of life happening to me. I can't wait to learn all I can and hope some of you readers will direct me to good resources or share stories that will keep me encouraged to go on planning for this adventure....Thanks for listening.....+

I know this post is rather old but I hope you will still see this.
Have you considered renting an rv for a week or so to see how you do with it? Contact some dealers to see if they have any suggestions concerning the wheel chair. There is also a forum for WK/traveling with disabilities either on this site, the Good Sam site or at workamper.com; I can't remember.

I was nearly 65 when I began RVing. My husband had died, and I did not want to stay home alone. Some friends and I went to an RV show where I spoke with several women about driving an RV; they all said it was easy, so I purchased my first RV.
My dealer walked me through all the details of setting up, etc. I videotaped the entire walkthru so I could review it when I had forgotten something. And you will forget something, so videotape or take thorough notes on each procedure. I also found that if I had trouble, people in RV campgrounds are very friendly and will help with problems.
So I would say, Go for it. Enjoy life. You have no promise for tomorrow.
