New, anxious member

Just an introduction (along with two questions):

My wife and I purchased a 2004 Damon Intruder on May 2, 2015 from a dealer in Houston, TX. I am anxiously awaiting the title to be delivered. We were pleased with the initial sales transaction. It went quickly and smoothly. The final outcome of the transaction is yet to be determined as we were told the title would be sent last week and unless it was sent late Friday, I doubt if it has been mailed out. I don't want to start speculating what other title woes may arise, as I can't seem to find the VIN number (from the purchasing paperwork) on AutoCheck or CarFax websites. Is there another website that will verify VIN number (I want to see, if there are any outstanding liens that haven't been paid - God forbid!). Also, I would like to double check the motorhome VIN number against the VIN that the dealer used.
Louisiana has a little more that 30 days to get vehicle registered, then a 6% penalty is imposed for each additional month afterwards.

Neither AutoCheck nor Carfax is mandatory reporting so it's very possible you'll never find anything about a particular unit.
For some reason people think those two are the be all and end all to checking repairs and damages on a unit, when they are just collection points for data that some people want to post. Even the "guarantee" is nothing more than getting the money back that was paid for a report.

I would run the VIN through a vin decoder and see if it matches up with what you believe you are buying. Call the dealer and have them verify the VIN and make sure that the title is being issued for the VIN that is ON THE COACH, not the paperwork. If the title comes in with the incorrect VIN, it will be invalid title. Delays in getting the title could be with the state, not the dealer. It took us 7 weeks to get a title from Florida.

Previous poster is right in that a Carfax, etc. is only as good as the info that was reported to them and they are seldom complete.

Contact your insurance company. Like a car, they have to have the right VIN for your insurance.

Congrats on the new rig ... titles do take a minute to get to you ... but should be there in plenty of time to register ....
Your coach should have a plate with all the info you need // I would pop over to the Damon section and ask where you mite find that .... unfortunately they're not in the same place on every make or model ......
Enjoy the adventure .........

Thanks for all comments. Spoke with dealer yesterday, who stated that he would get the title and overnight it to me, to have it here by Thursday. I feel somewhat better, will close this post out by Monday, if title has been received. I've been in Construction Management most of my working life of 50 years and tend to always be planning ahead for potential hiccups. I think it's somewhat a curse now

I have first hand knowledge of how the process works. Depending on how you payed, even with certified funds, we held title until the check cleared. Usually 10 days. If it was a recent trade, the dealer may not have title yet and may be waiting on it from whatever state it came from or whatever bank held it. Those other entities rarely have empathy for your states titling laws. I don't want to scare you and I'm sure your dealer will do everything within their power to get it to you on time but realize that there are other powers at work at times.
