We are shopping for a new class A and need some help.We are looking at a Thor and a Damon, both of which have a Ford V10. We will not be going full time for a few years but feel that this wil be our last MH.We want to buy the best for the money and need help. We own a 97 Georgie Boy 26 ft and the more we shop for a new one the better she looks! Please inform us as to the upper end brands and the stay away from brands. We've never spent this much money with so little info. Thanks ,Tom/karen

Well, that's a tall order. There's a lot of info on this site about buying an RV. Use the search function to find threads on the subject and be prepared to spend hours reading them. You could also hang out on the Chassis forums to see if there are any chassis mfgrs. that stand out. A lot depends on your preferences. Do you boondock a lot or do you camp in campgrounds with full hookups? Do you want lots of slideouts or maybe just one? What floor plans do you like? Do you have a budget in mind? Do you need a new one or would a used one a year or two old work? Good luck on your quest!

Full.Monte is right, but you've gotten on one of the best RV forums around. We're relatively new to this mh rv'ing ourselves, having gone from 12 years of tent camping to purchasing our 2005 National Dolphin in Dec 2010. I gotta say though, I have learned so much from this forum and the good folks on it.

I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses.

One thing that comes to mind is, you mentioned you'll be full timing in a few years. If it were me getting ready to full time, I think the first thing I'd consider would be, whether full timing was going to be a lot of miles over the road or something else, like maybe camp hosting or work camping. If I were going to be doing a lot of road miles I'd chose a dp versus a gasser. They're generally better suited to high mileage traveling.

As far as Ford V10 versus other. We chose our NRV Dolphin over a same size and very similarly equipped NRV Sea Breeze because of the Chevy 8.1L V8 and Workhorse chassis. At least for 05, it had more displacment in cubic inches, more HP and Torque and made both of them at a lower RPM than the 05 Ford V10. From what I understand the V10's now have 3 valves per cylinder and make more hp. Not sure about the torque. I still think the V10's are a bit more rev happy engines.
