New DP RV Purchase from RV Direct

Yes, I would like to purchase my RV from a local dealer, however the pricing I am getting from RV Direct is so attractive ( almost makes up the hit on sale tax) that I am seriously considering purchasing from them.

RV Direct does not have a real service center and that bothers me. However, I will be taking off and not really in the local area so service will need to be done by another dealer where I did not purchase the coach from either.

RV Direct says that they have an arrangement with the factory and the factory is aware that they sell direct and do not have a typical service center so the factory does a significant check before shipping the RV to them.

The coach would be a diesel pusher and the price difference between them and someone like MHSRV is like 140K vs 156K.

Does anyone have any direct experience with RV Direct?

Any input sincerely appreciated.

Regards,

Jim

My experience with them was not positive. Once the sale was done they ignored me. Day of delivery was a mess... They were not ready at the given time and the pdi was less that 1 hour long.

I bought a class c from them summer of last year. As long as you understand what your getting, I thought the process was fine. I picked mine up in Des Moines. PDI was nothing special and I had to learn mostly on my own and through forums like these. I too was concerned about the service dilemma, however my local Forest River dealer did warranty work on several occasions with no questions asked. There is not much after sale contact from RV Direct.

Our family used it a lot more than we thought we would and had blast doing so. There were some things we did not like about the class C and decided to get a Thor Palazzo class A DP. RV Direct sells those too and we did get a quote. It would require a drive from Arizona to Orlando or Buffalo to deliver our trade and take delivery. I took that quote to our local Thor dealer and they offered the same unit for $1200 more. No way I was going to pass that up.

Rv Direct has great pricing but don't plan on any after sale support unless you live near one of their dealerships. I knew that beforehand and have no complaints regarding my purchase from them.

great pricing for me as I never go back to a dealer. I do my own work so the price was way better then any dealers around here. if I have a problem I can't fix, i'll take it to the factory, because the dealers just will mess more things up then they fix.

You better hope you get one that does not need any warranty work as it is unlikely your local dealer will touch it.
I was always successful using their price and getting the local dealer close to it.
Good Luck either way.

Yep, I learned that the hard way! I bought a 5er back in 2002 at the Atlanta RV show. Atlanta is about 5 hours from here. I thought we could get it serviced at a local RV dealer. WRONG! He refused to touch it! I did most of the service myself with the help of the factory customer service folks. Definitely something to consider!!
