Just joined the forum and it looks like I'm going to be able to learn just about anything I need to about RVing on this site, just wanted to throw something out before I head off to work, we are wanting to buy a new Motorhome we are thinking in the 35 ft range we won't be living in it year around just extended trips two to three week stuff, we want to get a diesel and we've looked at what seems like ten thousand different makes and models at this point any good advice on when to buy what brands to stay away from etc. would be appreciated.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Just about any of the major brands are OK. You need to decide on a budget figure, then start shopping for what is available in that price range. RVTrader.com is a great place to look, because you can search under so many parameters, including price! Check the Classifieds here on IRV2 also. Hope you find the perfect rig for your needs!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Don't know about motorhomes but have a suggestion, start looking at owner's groups for the major brands, Tiffin, Newmar, American Eagle, etc. People tend to post problems they are having. Also, start reading all the rv forums you can, www.escapees.com, RV, fulltimer's blogs like Nick Russell, (Gypsy Journal RV Travel Newspaper – Fulltime RV Travel In Our Winnebago Motorhome) He writes a daily blog about their lifestyle, useful info even if you don't intend to fulltime. Have you rv'd before? Rent a few before buying, you will get an idea of floorplan that's suitable to you. If you are not an experienced rv'r, buy a gently used unit. It's hard to know what floorplan you really like until you spend time in it. We rented 2 class c's and a class a before we ended up buying a 5th wheel. Welcome and Good luck!

Why are you set on a DP if you do not know much about motorhomes in the first place? Most 35 foot coaches are going to be gas, not diesel, so perhaps this will help you start your search. If you are not going to live in it then perhaps you would be much happier with a unit that is less expensive all around until you know exactly what you want or need. I am on my 3rd coach and still would not buy a DP for the way we use it. Good luck.
