Aloha from Honolulu, Hi. I'll be retiring in a few years and looking to buying a class A for all the luxury and comfort I can afford after retiring. Like the saying goes "happy wife means happy life." We are planning on going part time quasi full time depending on where the children decide to make their roots. Also we are looking to make our new home base in a state that is a lot more tax friendly. Any suggestions on where to purchase a one year old class a diesel pusher and a state to make our new home would be greatly appreciated.

The popular states to set up domicile for full-timers are Texas, Florida and South Dakota. If you're not Medicare age and purchasing medical insurance yourself, South Dakota has some issues in that they don't offer good insurance to travel with throughout the country. You need to look into PPO insurance where you can easily find doctors to treat you.

As far as where to buy? Private parties would be my first choice. Also, a person who keeps orderly receipts on maintenance and repairs would be a winner for me. Good luck!

Welcome to the RV life. A Google search will turn up many options from both dealers and private individuals. My favorite web site is RVTrader.com but there are others such as RV Registry as well. Private owners may give the best deal and there are brokers such as PPL RV that sell on consignment. Start going to RV shows to get familiar with floor plans and different makes. Most of all, be patient. It can take some time to find the "perfect" deal for you. We already live in Texas, so that is where we will keep our residence starting next year when we go full time.

We're looking at 4.5yrs before we retire and go fulltiming. TX, FL and SD are popular states but insurance is limited for those under 65. At this point a tag Tiffin Allegro Bus and Entegra Anthem are our top choices. Read sites like this, Escapees, RV.Net, TiffinRV, RV Forum etc and you'll gain lots of info.
