New Rules for Importing?

Some one mentioned to me to make sure I'm aware of the new rules for importing a used RV into Canada. Apparently this got changed in April of 2014.

I know about the DRL's (day time running lights). Is there other new regulations to follow?

I'm concerned that the coach I'm buying only has lap seatbelts and not the 3 point seatbelt. Do I have to modify this? Can I add the wallmount shoulder harness or do I change the seats. That can get expensive.

Also, I read something about the requirement for a theft immobilizer device.

Has anyone had to deal with this yet?

Your help is always appreciated.

Recent post on the USA , Exporting side, of the crossing the border, with an RV . I haven't been to the RIV site in Canada looking for changes.
Canadian Tire is an inspection site, nationwide , so if you can't get the info you want on line maybe a visit there would answer the immobilizer question.
I'll track down the export post and direct you to it.

Edit:

Canada Region ; look for ,
Update on Vehicle Import Requirements ; by

Only covers USA changes.

The fellow we bought our coach from had imported it in from the states in 05. He had to have a list of all the recalls that pertained to the coach from new and to certify that they were done. Also the day time run lights.
He did tell me that he wanted to buy a different coach but it would not meet the standards to import it. What they were I don't know. I would check with ICBC on the seat belt thing and also if there is any other criteria to be met. Good luck it sounds like a nice coach.

Thanks Dennis. I have looked at the RIV site and looked at the check list. Aside from the DRL I think I'm good. Unless I'm missing something.
