We don't plan on building but it is nice to have good parking with full hook up at home

Hate to see those pretty trees go, but it will be nice to have indoor storage for your coach next to the house. You going to have fhu's for it?

My daughter has a neighbor that's been fixing her car for years as well as my grandsons, he heats his home with wood so I gave it to him. It was basically all maple.

It cost him right at $500 for gasoline for his "free" wood but he got substantially more in return. Thank you for the compliment.

FHUs will be just water, heat, and AC, I was originally going to do the dump site thing but once I found our that our City Works garage has a free dump open 24 hours less than 1.5 miles away from me I saw no use for it. The dump hook up may still happen if I go ahead and hook up a toilet.

The trees were a major factor in not putting the building up years ago but now they were getting diseased and dropping major limbs and branches when ever it got windy, some of the bigger limbs impaled the ground 2 feet or more and could not be removed by hand. Past damage to the house as well as future concerns helped shift the outcome as well.

Once the larger trees in the front were taken down there really was no need for the much smaller ones to be left standing.

Keep posting. They are pouring my pad footers and walls next week. I doubt the weather will let us get the building up this season. I will go to school on your project.

For the few dollars more and given our temperatures up here I elected to go with 7' poured footings like used for a house to try and eliminated any future problems with frost heaves.

The matting that was put down before the gravel bed is what they use on some of the roads here when they are not cutting corners to save $$.

Wow, those trees were bad. Having to worry about when the next limb will hit the house is more than reason enough to turn the spot into a comfy place to park your coach. You'll be so glad to have it under roof with winters the way they are in the UP.

Your home looks like it is built in a beautiful area. But 7' frost line?? That is why so many folks are moving south.

Here's some photos of my construction that I completed a few weeks ago. I started with a wooded/brushy area, so I cleaned out a large spot, so I could make a drive through garage. Since the property was sloped had to dig down and backfill. Close to 5,000 sq. ft. of concrete was used for garage pad and driveway. Used same exterior material that was on my house, so that it would blend in (as much as a RV garage will blend in). Have electric (50 amp), water, and sewer dump in the garage. Went with vinyl siding on the inside walls, so that water from washing would not be a problem. Happy with how it turned out, so nice to have a drive through.
