New RVer

My wife and I just bought our first travel trailer. We're going to be taking actual delivery in a month (we had to order it to get what we wanted) and are planning to do a shake-down cruise that first weekend. We plan to find a place close to the dealership in case any problems arise. My question is, what should I be getting in preparation for that first trip. I figure we'll need a surge protector of some sort, and some sort of platforms for the leveling and tongue jacks, but would appreciate some suggestion on what else to get. Thanks.

UC... I might get some linen.... and cooking goods... then go out and use it. Do not buy anything until you have tried it out. Go thru the manual.... practice setting everything up. Look at every feature....make notes in the manual on every question you have.... call the manufacture customer care line and ask your use and care questions as they arise....see how you are treated by the people that made your trailer..... THEN... after the shake down....come on back and let's talk what you want to improve

If this is your first I'd suggest taking a video camera of the PDI. The guys doing the PDI are usually technicians and some are good and some are bad. There will be a lot of information and it will be a circuit overload for sure. You won't remember it all. When we had a PDI on our first TT the guy never showed us where the hot water tank was located and we were told that the hot water tank worked so when I added water the by pass was closed and the hot water tank was not full and it burned up the electric water heater element. We were two days away from our first trip to FL.

I would suggest you get two or three sets of Lynx Levelers, a set of good tire chocks, a Rhino drain hose and some good 10' sections of fresh water hose. That will get you going. Then you can just settle in, run to the store and grab what you need. Obviously, you will need toiletries, pots, pans, plastic ware, utensils, towels and such. Beyond that is mostly personal camping style.

We have been camping for some time now. We sold our mh and took two years off, we stored all our camping stuff and when we got the new to us dp we put it all back in. We went on the firs trip and found we were making notes and running to the store for things we needed, it seems to me that every rig is different and you will find some things work in this one but not that one. We look at it as a scavenger hunt.

you might want to make sure you have your propane tanks full. Beyond that what everyone else has suggested.

Have fun and congrats.
