I didn't label it as a new scam, just used it to show how to tell they're bogus.

This is the part that I love. To receive your parcel, print this label and go to the nearest office. Yeah, and what's that going to do for me? Will they have it waiting there?

It might have been new to Joe, but as many of us replied, it wasn't something we hadn't seen before. Joe was trying to do a service to other members of iRV2. No reason to get all superior or something.

Bob...I was originally responding to the thread and not you. My post followed yours but wasn't a quote of yours. It wasn't a critique of the OP or your posting. It was just a statement of exasperation that it wasn't new to me. In my follow up to you I just wanted to point out that I wasn't responding to your post at all. I don't think I did it in a mean or "superior" way. It certainly didn't deserve your snide response.

Been getting those a while, Got a new one today, Looked like a very legit E-mail from a bank I do business with telling me they had a security update,, Had an attachment ALARM ALARM ALARM. Checked the addresss it came from .. ALMOST the bank's, just 2 characters off, Logged into my account (using the link in my bookmark file) and checked my secure inbox on their system,,,empty.

Of course by the time I got that far the level of sureness it was a scam was into the 9's (99.9999....%) but when I saw the inbox on my bank account blank.. it rose to 100%.

As for the attachment... It never saw the light of day or the hard drive on my computer. DELETED from the host.

I also got one today indicating that I could gain 4 inches!!! I must say that I was intrigued. At my last doctors appointment I had lost nearly 2 inches from when I was at my tallest of 6' 3".

I get emails from a lot of legimate people. Brokerage accounts, banks, credit unions, etc.

I NEVER click on a link in an email. I'll use a bookmarked address.

If it's an email confirmation for an order over the internet, I'll highlight it and do a web search on it. 99.9% of the time, I'm golden and don't really need the extra step but I want to be sure.

Another Scam I got the other day... (Dec 18th) Phone rings and the non-english as first language, speaker tells me he is from the Government and I have been selected at Random to receive a $7002 (in this case) Grant, tax free, which does never have to be paid back, all this because I have been a good citizen and paid my taxes on time (not true) and not filed for bankruptcy (I was late in 2006 due to having hired an accountant who did not account properly,, had to pay a small penalty, Did not pay the Accountant since the penality was right close to what he charged, went back to DIY on time).

Well, he was tripping fraud alerts in my brain but ... Not 100% sure,, So once I got some more power into my phone I made the call back to his supervisor (he wanted me to call right away but alas.... Phone battery really was close to dead, OH, this "Right away" yet another fraud alert)

Called back the stupidvisor and she tells me how they need a 2 hundred something Security Deposit.

Uh... Federal law: If we are sending you money, Any fees get removed from the amount we send.. YOU DO NOT need to put up front money.

Told her what I thought of her (Confidence that it is fraud now 100%) and hung up..

Trust me, they are out there, thousands of them all trying to rip you off.. I would like to see them all moved to a small island with no communications of any kind.
