It really doesn't matter what sort of home you have, only the interest is deductible for any home. There is no home owner deduction.

I have joined many forums, but there are only two where I have been around enough to know that there are MANY knowledgeable people on there, with WIDE ranges of knowledge.

This is one of them.

I also know how to read between the lines, and I can tell when I am getting fluff, and when someone is sharing actual wisdom. I ignore the fluff, and follow the wisdom.

On another forum that I am one of the top 10 posters in (been a member for over 10 years), I really know who is who, and have asked questions in the off-topic section to solve problems in many areas of my life. Plumbing, electronics, computer issues (linux), etc...on large forums, there is someone who is an expert in almost every area and you learn whose advice you can trust.

Again, though, I wasn't asking for "tax advice" as much as asking if IRS allowed ANY deduction or credit for the purchase of my trailer. Simple yes or no answer, no judgement call relying on "advice". And definitely not trying to pull a fast one over on Uncle Sam.

And luckily, someone chimed in with the answer. A couple of people, actually.

Thanks to all of you!

Kind of like that, we lived on a sailboat 12 years and it was financed. The loan interest was tax deductible on our federal tax returns.
