I thought I would post this to help other newbies and to give the veteran RV'ers a laugh! For our maiden voyage, we went dry camping at the beach. We knew we would only be there about 2 and a half days so we were not too concerned about water levels. (It's just my husband and myself)

We took regular showers and washed dishes. (I know the veterans are rolling their eyes!) On our last night there I noticed the control panel showed our fresh water tank at EMPTY and our grey water tank was FULL!

On the upside we learned all about the systems on our MH. We learned how to survive as a self contained unit and best of all... we learned that when you dry camp you take quick showers and use paper plates! ( I know... looking back it sort of sounds obvious!)

The apprenticeship for newbies is brief---you just passed the final exam. Veterans---they are the ones that know better and go ahead anyway----welcome you guys are doing fine.

The ones rolling there eyes---are just remembering when they ran out of water.

Ditto. That's how we all learn.

"Navy showers" and paper plates help stretch your time unhooked. You were brave to make your maiden voyage a dry camp trip at the beach too!

One question ,were you ON the beach or AT the beach. Depending on your answer I might have a story for you.

I'm laughing at myself right now- when I read your first couple of lines, I thought you were headed to camp at one of our drive-on beaches....
Don't ask me how I know that when one parks on the beach, checking the tide tables for "water levels" is a REALLY REALLY good idea.....

Wish I could get that message over to DW not only when we dry camp, but at home. You'd think by the volume of water we were at Niagra.

It happens. We had it happen to us in July in Eastern Washington. We had a site with no hookups and I wasn't watching the fresh water levels. 2nd night DW went to clean the girls up and no water coming out of faucet. Opps no water. To far to reach accross the way to the water faucet, it dark and no good way to refill. Had to cut a plastic bottle for funnel and hand carry water about 30 yards. Took awhile to get about 25 gallons in the tank to last. I'm no newbie and felt real dumb.

We were at a Silver Strand a state campground in California. The RV's were parked on a parking lot and you walked about 100 feet out to the sand.

Good lesson to learn. Now remember if you are ever in a partial hookup site with no sewer that the same limitation applies because you will fill up the tanks QUICK due to the feeling of "unlimited" water.
