Newbie Question; Where to Winter
Purchase our new home. 2014 Tuscany XTE 36MQ. S&B going on the market. Looking for a place to Winter. We have friends in Prescott AZ area. Wondering if that area or Texas Gulf Coast. Currently on NC Coast, Wilmington NC. Looking for some recommendations for winter!

I think it is just a personal preference where you Winter. Lots of snow birds in the Rio Grand Valley (McAllen/Brownsville TX area). Cheap cost of living, cheap medication from Mexico. I personally would take South Texas over Southern Az. Florida could be another option for you as well as Gulf Shores, AL area.

Can't recommend a place but we've been to most of the snowbird places coast to coast in the winter and I suggest you pick a place pretty soon and make reservations now.
Awful lot of people starting to do what you are doing and it gets harder every year to find room in Arizona and Florida during the winter.

I have a brother that lives in Prescott, AZ. It is a beautiful place but being the high desert, it can get cold in the winter and snow isn't unheard of. Something to consider if you are wintering there.

Thinking of the southwest or Mexico but will be to listen to those that have done it before. Are you looking for a RV park or to Boondock?

Do you have any other hobby? Example we have a Jeep and love to ride trails.
We winter in Yuma, lots and lots of trails there. Cross the border in 15 mins and shop Mexico, cheap dental and eye care. Great weather.

It's all a matter of personal taste. Desert or near the ocean....your choice. But what ever you choose make it soon. The good places book up fast. Most people make their reservations for the following winter before leaving. We made our reservations for next winter before we left the place April 1st. Some places that are already full will put you on a waiting list, but then you run the risk of not getting in at all.

I have a home in Prescott AZ. I move south to the desert for winter. Lower elevation always works.

Another vote for Yuma. Many parks to choose from. Might check The Palms to see if they still have their buy-one-get-one stays. Lots of other parks & private lots depending on your desires. Dentists & meds just a few miles away in Los Algodones, MX. Agree that reservations might be needed. There was an increase in snowbirds last year.

IMO, RGV TX, ARIZONA, FLORIDA. Those are the choices for a moderate winter.
Florida , pricy, crowded. Arizona, sand and rocks, wind, S.Texas cheaper, maybe windy, may have cooler, wet weather. Tho cheaper, less crowded. Your choice.

Usually not windy in winter but is in spring... like now. Arizona also has trees, lakes, rivers. You can be in lush Sonoran desert (not typical sand that you may think of) and in 30 minutes be in a cool pine forest. You will see many varieties of flowers on cactus, bushes, trees. Wonderful animals and birds to view. Lots of variety in Arizona. Can you tell it's our favorite? We've tried all the other regions of the U.S. and the winner was Arizona.

if you want no cold, cut the US map in 1/2 kinda and throw a dart
