From my experience, I was never confronted about having an alcoholic beverage in my camper. I believe this is mostly a regulation used to get rid of unruly, drunk campers. Gives them just legal cause to chase them out.

Almost ALL states we have been to have this restriction, as well as national parks. But, I have also been told by rangers that what happens in your RV is not going to be a problem and if you are quiet around a campfire noone is going to check your beverages.
They want a quick and easy reason to eject anyone who has a crazy party or gets out of control.

That's what Solo cups and Cozies are for...it's to keep large groups, and large family gatherings from getting out of hand... Put cans in cozy, bottles pour in cups...

Good advise if they have a rule or not.

IL is the same as well as National Parks. Plastic cups and act your age and you won't have any issues.

I guess a few bad apples ruined it for everyone.

Ohio is that way, All you do is put it into cups and not cause any problems. They just don't want kids seeing beer and booze out in the open

The CA State campground I’ve camped at in northern CA allows alcohol within your Campsite but not outside of your site so not in the general Campground. I’ve seen Rangers question campers “what’s in the red Solo cup” when they’re strolling around and/or have seen campers warned but not cited. Alcohol on the beach is clearly posted as prohibited whether you are a camper or a day user on the beach.
So use common sense and don’t advertise it.

I think it's sad to see State Parks with such restrictions. My taxes pay to run the parks but I don't remember anyone asking me for my blessing on any such rules. Common sense and noise restrictions would probably have the same effect. Here in California they are talking about banning smoking at all beaches. No smoking.... outdoors?
I don't smoke, but I still see a dangerous precedent be set.
At Angel Stadium, 'tailgating" was pretty much ignored if you kept drinking on the "down-low". When the Angels play certain teams: Red Sox, Dodgers, Yankees and I think SF Giants, there is a NO tolerance policy. If you are drinking out of a red "Solo" cup the Police will come inspect it for alcohol.
Long story short (too late), If you don't flaunt drinking alcohol you'll be fine.

“California State Parks all are no alcohol parks”. This is UNTRUE, Mousepad II. This may be true in some day use areas, but not all. For example, the regulation posted at Crystal Cove State Park states: Consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited, except that within designated camping and overnight lodging area, registered campers and/or lodging guests may consume alcoholic beverages within the limits of the space to which they are registered.

Minnesota State Parks do not allow alcohol. As long as you keep it at your site and do not over indulge, it's overlooked.a
