I found this on another RV news group but if you are planning to stay in a casino lot in Laughlin NV. you may want to reconcider. This was in the Laughlin times.

I'm following this topic on a couple of other forums as well.

I haven't gotten my hands on the actual county ordinance yet, but would be interesting to read it. Note that this is a county ordinance and Las Vegas is in Clark Co. I'm wondering how it will apply to all the RV's and busses parked at places like the speedway, also the rodeo and a dozen other major events.

Anyone know who's feathers got ruffled and started this?

"Boycott" seems awful strong sounding, but if those that normally go to Laughlin go elsewhere, and the economic impact hits the businesses and county government, one of 3 things will happens:
1. The ordinance will be changes
2. The casinos or hotels will build full hook-up sites
3. No changes and all those that used to go to Laughlin will find other similar places to enjoy, without the hassle and be welcomed by those at the alternate location for the great people they are and the money they put into that local economy.

I'm apt to think full hook-up sites will be added, as most government entities are too hard headed to change an ordinance, even if it would be the smart thing to do and in the best interest of the community.

Sorry for all those affected by this and hope everyone can relocate and still enjoy themselves.

Take care.

You can't drill down in the County Ordinances to find it.

Its a County Health & Sanitation regulation. One of those instances where Big Brother (County) passes a law that sez "everything he (Board of Health) sez is law".

Latest story out of Laughlin is the County has now stationed a Health Inspector there to monitor enforcement.

Just go south on the Needles highway (NV side)approx 14 miles to the AVI casino on indian reservation, they have free dry camp parking. They welcome the business, also the County has no jurisdiction there.

I think I read on the Escapees Forum that the KOA is taking over that parking lot and will be charging for it. I may be wrong but since you are in the area, perhaps you could ease over there and ask a few questions???

I made my LAST visit to Laughlin until things change. I also let the "County Manager" know, by e-mail that I will not return again. If anyone could find out for sure I'll bet that a campground is behind all this.

Lorna, There's a fee type RV park at AVI which you're probably referring to, however there's a large dirt parking area on the casino side of the entrance highway where you can park FREE overnight, not sure if there's a time limit on the free parking. Of course if KOA gets the fee park they'll probably petetion the Tribal Council to abolish all free parking so they (KOA) can get more business.

For any of those interested, I just finished speaking to AVI security personnel and asked about the casino policy regarding the overnight free parking. He informed me that it was ok to park free for 2 or 3 nights. I said, then 3 nights would be the limit? He said not necessarily, but the casino would want the RV owner to come in and register for a gaming card and get permission for any stay that would exceed 3 nights. Of course one couldn't stay for an indefinite period of time. The one stipulation is that the RV must be "Fully Self Contained" which of course we're all qualified. KOA hasn't taken over the Fee RV park across the street yet, but it's coming.

Hope this information helps a bit.

The county manager passed the buck to the Health Department. He stated that they are checking into the problem and what could be done. Time will tell.
