No more consequential damage coverage
I talked today to Wholesale Warranties, Pete, and he said they are no longer doing the consequential damage coverage. He said that is because they haven't had enough claims on consequential damage coverage to justify the extra cost to an extended warranty. He said it would bump up the price $2000 or more.
He also said they don't cover any water damage to the coach caused by gaskets and seals. He said the gaskets and seals rider would only apply to the motor and chassis.
Anyone know of a company that still provides consequential damage coverage?
Is it really needed?
Thanks.

I agree that I probably would not buy a policy that did not contain consequential damage.
For Doggy Daddy, consequential damage is when one part fails and causes other parts to fail. An example might be your water pump on the motor fails and causes the motor to overheat and it wrecks your head gasket. So the insurance would only cover the failed water pump... or a belt breaks etc...
We bought our used RV from Lazydays and they did sell a policy with consequential damage, but it was pricey compared to the same policy from Wholesale Warranties. I'm thinking RV dealerships would sell you this policy. Also, I think the Good Sam renewable one year policy has it. Hope that helps...

In the above example I believe all covered parts are still covered. (Edit). Provided one did not violate policy term such as not stopping at signs of the problem such as excessive water temp.
I believe that consequential damage provisions where related to damage caused by covered parts to non-covered parts and visa versa. As an example, if a water pump pulpy broke and destroyed a bely, the belt is covered.

I think his statement is somewhat contradictory. If there weren't that many claims relating to consequential damage, then why would it bump the cost by $2,000 or more.
I have it on my five year full coverage policy I purchased from WW about three years ago for less than $4,000, so I doubt that there was a $2,000 up charge for it at that time.

I personally wouldn't want a policy without it.

XtraRide by Protective still offers it. No where near a $2000 bump in price.

When I tried to get Xtraride 14 months ago, they told me they were not writing new policies.

XtraRide is writing new policies, and Optional Consequential Failure is available. We are an XtraRide Dealer.

That is amazing. Our friend had the company's warranty, and was very happy with it. I called the company in November, 2013, and they told me they were not writing any new policies. I would have bought one. Someone there did not know what was going on. Thanks for the update.
