No more vinyl graphics

In the few years that we have had our MH the vinyl graphics had gone from all right to bad to terrible. There had been some previous repairs to some of the graphics and I tried to "fix" some of them myself.

Some looked faded and some were peeling/rolling off. I tried to trim them and tried using matching tape to stop the peeling but nothing was working. When we washed the coach we would always end up with more of the vinyl coming off.

I looked into getting a new set of decals from Tiffin but for the cost I was sure I could get them replaced with paint. After some research it seemed the best thing would be to get it done in Red Bay but we are west this year and it will be a while before we are back in that area. I called a number of places to inquire about getting the job done and most reacted like I was from another planet.

Then, at the NW FMCA rally I talked with Tony from Straightline Auto Body in Eugene. He said they do this all the time. During the rally he came and took a look and emailed me an estimate. DW and I had a trip planned to visit our son in China after the rally so on Monday we dropped off the MH at Straightline instead of finding a place at the airport. We returned yesterday and picked up the MH this afternoon.

What a difference! They did a great job. If anyone is in the northwest and needs some work I would give them a call. I'll try to find some before and after shots when I get a chance and am off the iPad.

Glad to see your happy with the work done. I'm sure others would like to see pictures of the work done. It is a problem with many and good solutions are always welcomed. As well as a referral. Thanks.

I'd like to get an idea of the costs as well, if possible.

O.K. Let's give this a shot. The first two are the old vinyl graphics and the next two are of the new painted on graphics. It's hard to see in the picture how bad the old was or how good the new is. But believe me...night and day.

As for the cost. It was about $1900 to have the old graphics removed and then repainted. The new colors are slightly different and I had the lines smoothed out and rounded to look more modern but it is basically the same as it was.

The cost just to purchase new vinyl was not much less than this. And that's without removal or installation.

Anyhow, after lots of phone calls and research I am very pleased with it all.

Very good job and I sure can notice the difference. The price was certainly worth the job that was done. I like the crisp look without the breaks of white around the cargo door openings and other things. Much cleaner look now. Money well spent.

No, they didn't repaint the bottom. But it does look a lot better now.

Thanks. I'm very pleased with the results. I knew I had to do something since we are planning on keeping it for a few more years at least. This should look good for quite a while if I take care of it and no concern about peeling vinyl now.

Very nice job. I would like to find a shop in Michigan or Indiana that could do mine!
