No place to meet other singles here - WHY?

I have a friend, widowed, in Calif who is in her mid 70s but in excellent health. She would love to meet a single gentleman to RV around the country with. But, she says, she has no way to meet them. She is financially comfortable and isn't interested in someone "paying her way." So I have to ask... why doesn't any of these RV Forums have a section for such people? Not a dating service as such, but a place where singles who are into travel, RVing, snow-birding etc can meet the opposite sex, get together and have a good time? Where they can find a companion to RV with? I'm sure there are single gentlemen who have lost their wives out there who would love to find a companion such as her.... why doesn't something like that exist here? I will tell her the reasons you all post. Thanks.

As mentioned above. If she has a computer, show her how to sign on with iRV2 and hook up with the "Solo RV'ers" section. That should be a great start.

I already checked that out and it's a forum of interest to people who own RVs and are single - not for single people like my friend. She doesn't own an RV. I didn't see anything there about single men and women meeting-up to take trips together. I'm talking about a section for people to meet each other, not discuss the joys and problems of owning an RV and traveling solo.

Start a new thread in the Solo section about your friend. I agree with you, I bet there are lots of widowed solo RV men who would enjoy the company for a trip or two or more. Particularly if she is a good cook, and/or can change the oil in a CAT diesel.

A thread? I'm talking about a section just to meet others with an interest in RVs. The woman may be the RV owner and an older gent say, no longer driving, may be thrilled to take a trip with her somewhere. She gets a companion and someone to share expenses, and he gets to take a trip with a companion. A thread will fall to the bottom and soon be forgotten.

We are first and foremost a RV forum which is why the Solo RV'ers forum is the place for all such posts and discussions.

what your after is an escort dating service with a posting board something like " swf looking for swm taking 2 week trip from Dallas tx going through n parks in yellowstone, GNP, and gtnp
this isn't the correct venue for that. Might be a good idea and needed, but doesn't fit here.

It wouldn't fit on an RV Forum? I'm not talking about an escort dating service. I didn't mean in the "general discussion" forum, I meant a forum of it's own here on irv2. A forum just for those hoping to meet someone to travel with. Not necessarily someone of the opposite sex. A group of women for example, can have a ball traveling together, sharing expenses. The solo group here doesn't seem to fill that need..... maybe I'm wrong but I can't see her posting there hoping to meet a gent to travel with.

I honestly can't imagine there is enough demand on iRV for that to warrant an entire forum to itself (incl. moderators etc.). I just don't think enough single women *without* RVs would look to post on an RV forum? The solo group is perfect for singles with an RV, but for singles without a rig i think a dating or travel buddy site is a much better choice. Many services out there, even for people who are just looking for company (I.e. not serious relationships). The social sites dedicated to travel and finding travel buddies are ideal....for example Travel Buddies and Women Traveling Solo Club and Travel Companions. even the AARP has sections like this. These are targeted specifically to what your friend is looking for, and have a lot more traffic/members looking for the same thing (so you're more likely to find a match).

do we really want to have something like that? Really? I am guessing there are numerous other locations on the net for this kind of thing. Things get off topic pretty often like it is now. I cam imagine how weird that might get. Naw, we don't need folks openly looking for companionship. That is what private messaging can be used for.

I'll give her this information. Thanks. With so many RVers being seniors, I thought for sure there had to be many widows and widowers who would love a traveling companion on these RV forums - enough to warrant a forum just for them. Apparently I was wrong. I've been wrong before.

I know she doesn't know about these sites. I had of course, heard of them. Am I to assume they're also for people like her who don't own their own RV but would like to travel with someone else to share expenses? As far as I know they're more or less for people who already own their own RVs. At 75, even though she is in excellent health, she does not want to buy her own RV.
