Noisy defroster fan

One of the two "defroster" fans in the cab area has started making a terrible racket when we turn it on. I have taken it apart and put it together again. It would then run 1 to 45" and squeal again. No signs of metal hitting metal, but that is what it sounds like.
Aside from buying a new one, does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix the squeal?

Oil the bearings with motor oil (not WD40)?

Good luck on trying to fix, I had one that basically did the same thing and took it apart 3 or 4 times and never had any luck fixing. The fan also started to get hot to the touch so I was concerned about something bad happening.

Finally just bought 2 new fans since I couldn't find a direct replacement and didn't want mismatching fans. I bought them from National Bus out of Atlanta, cost ~$40 each.

Thanks to Ahicks for the advice to use regular oil on the fan!
I used 3 in One oil on the bearing, did a three hour trip today and not one sound from the fan on either high or low speed. Problem solved.

I can't tell you how many times that's worked for me. Oilite bearings just seem to dry up once in a while, and all it takes is a drop or 2 of motor oil to bring them back to life. That one or 2 drops may last years...
