I tried to resurrect an old noisy Power Gear leveler pump motor thread because I was running into the same thing... My Power Gear pump was screaming like a banshee when I'd raise the RV, it sounded horrible, causing people to turn and stare at where the unholy noise was coming from but it turns out it was too old to awaken...
I researched as much as I could, I talked to Lippert tech reps, I even took it to a shop to have them confirm what I already knew that I needed a new pump.
So, I buy a pump motor on Amazon for $224 and start looking into whether I want to try my hand or take it to a shop to replace it.
The shop tells me it will be anywhere between 5 and 6 hours total and possibly $500 to $800.... Holy crap...
I get back home having decided to bite the bullet and break the news to my co pilot wife about the money and let the shop do it.
Then I read on that thread that someone (Motorhead57) was able to get some oil onto the top side of the motor where the bushing (not bearing) was and that it solved their noise problem because it was dry and just wanted a little love.
I could only access one of the screws on that little hat shaped cover but I was able to loosen it enough to get a screwdriver under it to pry it up enough to get the straw from a can of WD40 under it.
I sprayed liberally (it won't hurt an electric motor) and viola... the nose is gone.
I'm out $224 but oh well, at least I'm not out the other $800 the shop would have charged me.
