My 1200 Norcold is working fine, I would like to add a second fan to help keep it cool on those hot days.

The "unit" Dons2346 mentions is probably the Amish built cooling unit found at www.rvcoolingunit.net ...We've installed (or helped) with two installs of this unit and both operate wonderfully. There is no woodwork required, no extra batteries or inverter/converter to install AND it gets rid of the idiot box (Norcolds "fix").
It can be installed at the factory for $200 and a couple of hours wait. It weighs half again more than the Norcold due to additional tubing and thickness of the tubing walls...

We had a 1200 Nocold in our Travel Supreme and it never did cool right from the time it was new. If it was hot outside the fridge would climb into the high 40's while traveling. We resealed the back of the unit, $700. added inside fans, had all 3 of the mods done and each tech told us that's the best they would do.

We finally fixed the problem by getting rid of it and buying a MH that did NOT have a Nocold. Personally I would never own another one and can't believe the company stays in business. With the money we spent trying to fix it and throwing out spoiled food we could have installed a residential fridge. Just my personal experience.

We have a 2007 MH and have kept up with all of the recalls and have been lucky so far with no problems. Like the other posts make sure that all of the recalls have been done.

Here on this site and a few other sites, you hear the horror stories of the Norcold refrigerator. All true, But keep in mind, there are thousands of these refrigerators working good everyday and the owners don,t post to forums.

This is very true, they are the silent majority, but once you get burnt by Norcold, you never want to go back. I am one of the few that got burnt and I can't stand the company or their products! The worst part is they lied to me until I was out of warranty and then it was $700. out of my pocket. Norcold had a TSB on the problem but wouldn't admit it. Much like the $32 million lawsuit they just lost for lying.

I'd buy the camper if you like it but have the Notcold checked out very well and not just by the dealer. Norcold might be able to tell you if the cooling unit has the recall and if it has been replaced if you call them with the cooling unit S/N.
We've owned our 1200 for five years and replaced the cooling unit four times. Yikes! The first time was because of a coolant leak, the other three were due to loss of cooling.
If we have to replace the cooling unit again I'm going to use one of the after market cooling units.

Just for clarification. The recall does NOT fix the defect. It only protects you from the defect. When the fridge is on propane and the exhaust stack overheats, the "wart" senses the condition and shuts the refrigerator down. It then has to be reset by running a magnet across the back of the "wart".

Both times we had recall work on our 1200, the tech. installed a compliance sticker on the backside of the fridge.

We had no problems with our Norcold, the thing ran flawlessly the five years we owned it. We had several summers that it ran 24/7 for five and a half months...over 30K miles of that running on propane.

I wouldn't go looking for our next MH with a Norcold installed, but then again if we found a unit we liked with one installed, it wouldn't be a deal breaker either. If you guys like the MH you're looking at, go for it, but at the first hint of the fridge not performing up to par...I'd replace the Norcold. With all the problems I've read about, I doubt the Norcold units are worthy of any further investment.

I don't trust the factory recall module either - it still allows temperatures to reach 800 F. before shutting down, plus it has a history of false alarms as well. I've added an ARPRV controller to mine to do a better job of boiler temperature management. If mine didn't work so well, I would replace it with a residential.

You might ask that the dealer add the ARP as part of the deal, if you proceed.
