Norcold recall reset information

We were recently on a trip, and decided to have our coach washed, so we went to a truck wash. After the wash the refrigerator went out this has happened in the past were the pressure washer would put out the pilot light, in the past you would just restart the refrigerator and all was fine, this was prior to the recall being performed. This time the refrigerator would not restart, and there was a red light showing on the recall device for the Norcold. I found a RV service provider near the camp ground we were in, who agreed to look at the unit for us. He informed me that the recall part is sensitive to moisture and needed to be reset. He showed me how to do this which took about 30 seconds, he disconnected the main wire leading to the unit and placed a magnet near the top of the unit, he then replaced the wire and had me start the refrigerator which started right away. Anyway be sure to keep moisture out of the refrigerator compartment if the recall has been performed. In talking to other RV's I found that many others have had moisture problems with the recall part, I was talking to someone who had this same problem when in a storm in Arizona recently.
Also for more information on this reset procedure I found and article on the internet which is helpful, you will find it if you search "troubleshoot norcold recall reset".

The Norcold recall box can be reset, especially if you suspect a water intrusion problem such as hard rain and/or pressure washing.

BUT - before you reset the recall box, make sure you inspect the cooling unit, including under the insulation around the burner, for telltale signs of yellow. Yellow stains are a sign of a leak. Restarting a leaking cooling unit can result in a fire.
