Can't say that I know the gentleman.. but its a good bet that my Aunt knows him.
Next time you are in for a haircut ask him if he knows "Tom" and "Lucile" Harrelson over on Burroughs street.
My Aunt "Bell" and Uncle "Wendel" are life long resident of Conway. Uncle died a few years back but his wife still lives there, she is in her 80's now..
Tom (us kids called him Uncle Wendel) Harrelson was a very well known carpenter, who back in the 1930/40's darn near built just about all of the beach houses on Myrtle Beach shore.
Then came back in the 1950's and remodeled many of them when the yankees discovered Myrtle Beach and started buying up all those old houses.
Aunt Bell worked and retired from the Conway Hospital as the head nurse.
Then her Daughter Jane followed in her footsteps and worked and retired from the same hospital as the head nurse also.
Many folks, in fact most people, are unaware that "Myrtle Beach" is not as large as they think it is..
Myrtle Beach is only one of several small towns that grew together over the last fifty years, but yet retained their individualism and their own charters..
I have not been back there since the early 1980's. So I'm sure that things have changed a lot..
Oh, by the way... the correct way to pronounce the name of "HORRY" county is "or-ree" not whore-ree.
I don't know if you are a fisherman or not, but the absolute best fishing in the entire USA is right there in that area.. "Big PEEDEE" "Little PEEDEE" as well as the pier at Myrtle Beach for salt water..
If you have ever heard the old expression
"Heaven on Earth" well, you have found it Driver,
Wish I was there also, maybe one day, I'll make it back home... be it God's will ...
