In Florida no matter what insurance company you have, 100% coverage No deductible for glass is included.
That applies to the windshield only. You are on your own with your insurance for side and rear glass.

Some in this discussion might find this interesting. It is an interactive tool to compare car insurance rates by zip code. We changed winter storage locations on our motorhome a couple of years ago. We only moved about three miles, but the zip was different, and the premium changed 15%. Link is Compare rates by ZIP code | CarInsurance.com

I would agree with the others to check out other residency states. FL is a high cost state largely due to crime, theft, and breakins of RV's so the rates are higher. As with Texas and SD there is no state tax, so there is always a tradeoff. Texas has lower insurance, but higher registration rates and they are doing some interesting things with "licensing" for RV'ers there; up to and including requiring a non commerical class a license for RV's weighing over 26K (doesn't require medical). We enjoy very low insurance rates in Louisiana for the RV ($1800 yr) as fulltimers thru GMAC but have to file state taxes here. However tags cost $56 for 2 years. I understand Progressive is usually higher than most, plus they do not offer replacement if you want it. Not sure about costs in SD for registration but I think they require a "yearly" visit in person. Good luck in your search..hope you share what you find out and decide.

That's why collision insurance rates in south Florida are considerable higher than the rest of the state. The other factor is high cost of uninsured motorist coverage - cause south Florida is full of unlicensed and uninsured drivers. Get away from the metro areas of the south coastal region and the rates ease off a lot.

Insurance companies who sell insurance in Florida are required to offer uninsured motorists coverage but this coverage is not mandatory and you may reject this coverage.

I am in the metro areas of the south coastal region of Florida. And my PIP for a whole year is $132 for both the MH and toad.

I have health insurance that covers me in a accident, I don't need insurance to cover wage loss. SSA will still pay every month.
And uninsured motorists coverage does nothing to fix any damage to your MH or Car.

Of course. Do you think that NO ONE ever drives without insurance? Be covered and be protected against financial ruin.

Answer
If you are a person who rarely carries passengers and you have good health insurance (which would cover any injuries you might incur in an accident anyway) why do you need to carry uninsured motorist coverage (which only covers bodily injury, not damage to your veh)? Answer. You don't.

In addition, in Florida you are required to have PIP (usually $10,000 worth of coverage) anyway, so you end up with like triple coverage if you have a good medical policy, PIP and Uninsured Motorist coverage.

MOST MEDICAL HEALTH ONLY PAYS A LIMITED PT, WHAT IF YOU NEED A NURSE TO TAKE CARE OF YOU OR FAMILY MEMEBER? YOUR MEDICAL HEALTH DOES NOT PAY FOR THAT.

Answer
Contrary to what is written above, you need uninsured motorist coverage for the simple fact that it also provides for lost wages. If the accident causes you to miss time from work, how are you going to recoup those wages? Does your health insurance provide that coverage? Nope.

Uninsured motorist also provides a pain and suffering benefit. If the person who hit you doesn't have the money to pay for insurance, how much money do you think you'll be able to get from them for pain and suffering? Nada.
Get it- you need it.
Is it necessary to carry uninsured motorist coverage in a no-fault state such as Florida?

No, it is not necessary. Anyone who says you should have it without inquiring about how this might be duplicated because of other insurance coverage or job benefits is just a salesman. Each situation is different. As a general rule, however, if you have good health insurance you don't NEED this insurance.

Hard to say. Kiplinger's did not list OH as one of the ten best retirees' tax havens. As others have said, you have to do a lot of research to get the big picture.

X2 for Blue Sky; I only evaluated policies as a package (motorhome and toad). Personally, I would never consider having different insurance companies for the two vehicles even if it would save a few dollars; I don't want to consider the headaches involved in coordinating claims between two companies if both vehicles were involved in an accident/

Bottom line

Allstate was cheaper than GMAC, Progressive and USAA. Allstate was even cheaper in Daytona, Florida than Orange County New York.

Blue Sky was HALF the cost of Progressive.

Thanks for all the input.

Allstate doesn't have Insurance for Full Time.
Read the policy. Been there done that.
