Oh dear??? Question From the UK
hello,
new to a hymer fiat ducato base 2.4 engine 1991, and just getting used to the fact theres no door on the drivers side, its easy after a while. the large basic gear pole is a bit tricky finding the right gear as it is very wobbly and does have to be manoeuvred a bit, I am excited about having the van, its done 70,000k.
and mot and new tyres. I will be travelling with my greyhound, but where to? don't really want to be in total isolation so looking for new friendly suggestions, I live in penzance, cornwall. apologies if I send messages to the wrong place, I find computers out of my tijme line.

I think you need to join a Fiat discussion forum if you are in need of information about your Fiat.
If you are interested in Caravans then you have come to the right place.

"Penzance, Cornwall"...ENGLAND- right?
Welcome to the site, which I hope you understand is populated mostly by folks who live on whatchamightcall "the other side of the pond". Certain confusions between us might arise therefrom, such as what is meant by "driver's side".
As to your query about places to go: just how far from Penzance do you want to travel?
P.S.
Does the 'van look anything like this one?

We hope someone can help you find the answers you're looking for. I'm guessing that your caravan looks something like this?
Perhaps someone at a local garage can help you with the wobbly gear pole. Enjoy your travels!

I see your from the UK....Believe we have a few others from across the pond that are members here. I'm sure someone here will know how to fix your wobbly pole.

Welcome. We're originally from Leyland, Lancashire but have been in the US since 1968. My brother lives in Plymouth, Devon. He recently retired from a publican's life - he owned the Swallow on the Barbican.
