I do my E450 V10 every 5000 miles. Keeps it simple, using the odometer.

When I take my pickup to Ford for an oil change, they use a synthetic blend oil. On the sticker they say to change at 5000 miles. It doesn't matter what gas engine you have V8, V10 etc. Personally, I try to get it changed at 4000. I'm kind of old school and used to change my oil at 3000, but with the synthetic blend I will go 4000.
I will give you an example. I had a 92 F250 with the 5.8. Changed the engine oil at 3000 religiously until I started to use the blend, then changed at 4000 or so. I sold this truck to a friend and it has 400,000 miles on it and still running. I never touched the inside of the engine or transmission. I should of kept that one. Now I have a MH with the V10, and will treat it the same. Changing fluids is like having an insurance policy. On an engine, you need to run it for some time to get the oil hot in order to burn off condensation. Idleing and those short trips to the store are murder on gas engines. About every month maybe sooner, I take the MH out for a drive for about an hour or longer
That's what I do, seems to work. Don't forget the transmission. The tranny mechanics suggest a change every 30,000. That's a little soon in my book so I will go with 50,000. Transmission change is a little spendy, done the right way.
And I wouldn't go by what Ford, Chev, or anybody else says when to change fluids. If I'm not mistaken they recommend transmission oil change at 100,000 miles, that's too long. They want to sell vehicles.
Ok, that's my opinion. Hope it helps you.

Do you have an oil life monitor? Why would you not use it?

My 1999 E450 doesn't have an oil monitor or trip odometer.

My manual states 7500 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first, for normal duty. Like you, i would go with the standard 5000 miles to keep to keep things simple. Only thing is, we rarely put even that many miles on the rig in a year. So, i change it annually, the same time each year.

On a side note, i've been doing it this way for 15 years and until about a year ago, didn't know ours was equipped with an oil life monitor. That was the first time it had ever come on and yes, i had to go to the manual to see how to reset it.

I do my V10 every 5k miles. Its easy to remember, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, etc, etc.

I buy the 5 qt jug at Walmart (5w30) for $11.00. Three of these jugs will get me two oil changes.

I have an older 4R100 tranny, it takes 4 gallons of Valvoline ATF Synthetic ($18 a gallon at Walmart). I disconnect the cooler return line, then do the flush/fill method to completely change out the fluid.

I don't own a V10, but I would follow the Ford manual and do 7500 mile or one year. No engine manufacturer is going to take chances, so you can bet that is conservative, so changing any more frequently than that is way overkill [in my opinion].

I'm not one for over changing my oil, but with its first generation low power V10, heavy MH, toad behind and driving it like I stole it, I think 5000 miles is enough on conventional oil.

Previous coach was a Ford v10 gassed. Changed oil annually in my birthday month, if under 7500 miles for the year.

Agreed. 5000 miles. You can't have a RV and not have severe duty. The extra few bucks a year is worth it.

The oil we use in these MHs is good for lots longer than we use it. My manual has two sections, one for MHs and one for Severe Service.
It says to replace MH oil/filter at 35,000 miles, the severe service chart says 25,000. V10s might be different.

V10 gas to a 500 HP Driptwa, night and day. Your probably carries 8X the oil, and 10X the filtration, plus a base oil with waaaaaaay more additives and shear tolerance.
