Agree this is not the place for political discussions, or a place to voice your views as you criticize others.

Yo... B & G - Thanks for continuing this important to RVing, boating, biking and other "Play Toy" new fuel-source topic.

I get your point [I detest two faced, lie filled politics too]... However, it appears you miss my point!

Politics is not what runs the ongoing demise of Earth's natural resources. Although some sort of politics can be found as a certain amount of underlying cause for any human action. Nuff said on that!!

The inertia of fuel-source "Business as Usual" is what must be addressed... forced to alter.

Earth's quickening natural resource quality down turn you deem [call] a hoax is actually very real and way more serious than a NY Heart Attack! I've been researching, planning and cooperatively inventing inside this paradigm of failing natural resources in regard to fuel-sources for nearly two decades.

Soooo irrespective of political leanings... but fully respective of "Save Earth's Ecosystem"... international associates and I are working to bring to market a new source fuel that helps keep all [of the 2 billion +] combustion engines running smoothly while greatly reducing their exhaust-pollution affect. Matter of fact, combustion engines running on this new-source Full-Cycle fuel will help to reverse Earth's natural resource quality down turn.

You, others and I in RV, boat, plane and motorcycle world are fairly smart people. It is imperative that we realize [clearly comprehend]: When atmospheric carbon dioxide parts per million reaches the level wherefrom climate and oceanic temperature trajectories get completely out of hand [which will occur within the next two to four decades - if civilization has not successfully taken abative actions] THEN - Our RV's, boats, bikes... etc "Toys" will be globally, legally forced to cease any operation other than what's required for living. That means our "fun-time" travels will be abolished.

This oncoming abolishment of "fun-time" jaunts will be so that fossil fuel refined crude oil [Non Cyclical, Carbon Positive] exhaust emissions can be immediately, notably reduced. Draconian, stringent 'no-mo-fun-time-travel" laws will be passed in order to try and "Save Earth's Ecosphere".

That said [believe me I know of what I speak]: Only way to avert that oncoming fun-time-removal calamity is to have prehense created and employed the Full-Cycle, Carbon Neutral fuel-source of which I and others have spent decades to create opportunity of development and deployment.

In future years: It will be great when we, [many millions of people] fun-time enjoyment specialists/enthusiasts, with our RVs, boats, planes and bikes tooling along, can realize that we dodged the legal-bullet of "Use Your Toys No-More" and actually have turned the tide into the statement of "Use Your Toys Much More"! Fun times can than be continued and enlarger upon!!

Reason I can authoritatively say a topic in the future will become... "Use Your Toys Much More"! Is, because, the atmospheric contained carbon dioxide [needing parts per million reduction and stabilization] that will be separated out of ambient air to produce a full-cycle fuel-source system... will be needing every fuel tank to be refilled... with new fuel tanks [toys] manufactured and brought to life every day. This is truly a win, Win, WIN fuel-source development in the making!

I'm in this for several reasons. One is for continuation of the fun-times our "Toys" provide for us all!

Say what!

A sentence like that is why people including me call climate change a hoax.

The biggest barrier to solving environmental problems is the tree hugers themselves. Provide a specific solution and you will get a bogus list of reasons for opposing the solutions.

Since this topic is about the future of RVs, the alternative fuel has already been demonstrated. The protein for animal feed can be separated from corn and soy beans using standard engineering processes to produce biofuels.

Animal manure can be used to make electricity using anaerobic digesters.

Gasifiers can be used to run engines or make steam in boilers.

And of course 20% of our electricity for the last 20 years is produced by fission.

I have just named 4 practical technologies reject by California tree hugers.

You understand little regarding what the continual CO2 increase throughout atmosphere and oceans has been doing, is now doing and will too soon accomplish doing; regarding nature's as-we-know-it pending collapse... that will happen if fuel production "Business as Usual" is allowed to continue. In addition to fossil fuels... that includes bio fuels - too!!

That's OK. Some people are afraid of required change. Fossil fuels, bio fuels and productions of other currently available liquid fuels thrust additional [i.e. new/more] CO2 into atmosphere and oceans during many levels of their creation... especially then, while their energy-release is in process of burning.

We're going to "Save Earth's Ecosphere" even if you and others want to rant in opposition.

Not sure what your real problem is; but you obviously have one. Can't you understand that our oncoming new fuel source will give you even more fuel to burn, and, that this fuel will not add new/increasing-volumes of CO2 into atmosphere and oceans? Don't you want more access to more fuel for all the things you do? How can you possibly be against that!?!?

Full-Cycle fuel source we are developing will be derived/created by utilizing solar heat energy only. By utilizing atmosphere contained CO2 as its base product will therefore add no additional [i.e. newly created] CO2 into exhaust fumes. Our gasoline, diesel and jet fuels are Carbon Neutral. As well, they are fungible and drop-in ready to be mixed with other forms of hydrocarbon liquid fuels. In other words, our Full-Cycle fuels will go right into anyone's tank to propel their vehicle. Are you saying you don't want that to happen?? That simply can't be... I must be misunderstanding your intent of words you've written.

If you don't want to use our fuels... well that's OK too! You are a free American. Purchase any fuel you want. I won't rant at you!!

Cheers!! Have a splendid 2019 holiday Season!!!

I’m happy with my 12 year old coach but if I had the money, I would have bought a new Foretravel or King Air.

It’s so unfair.

LOL

Pduggs hits it on the nail for me.
If you are trying to get into RVing on a limited budget, like me, the older, pampered, high quality coach (from about 6 or 8 brands) is probably your best bet. The various reasons have been already been outlined in this thread.
BUT...if money is less of a concern, yeah sure I would gravitate to a newer model. If I had a major amount to spend on a coach I can see the attraction of picking my own fabrics and finishes. And if I had a lot to spend, it wouldn't matter as much if things fell apart or needed to be replaced. It wouldn't slow me down....I would just get stuff replaced. I would even preemptively replace stuff.

So, yeah, 20 years from now, my well-maintained, pampered coach from the year 2019 WOULD be a good purchase for someone in the future.

Well I guess I did SOMETHING right then. I really like my old Newmar that I scored dirt cheap. I've been impressed by how various aspects of it being a once high quality build have stood the test of time.

When I went shopping I rationalized that the 20 year old high end coach would probably been purchased by a wealthy person who would have also had the inclination and resources to maintain the thing over the years.
No evidence or facts....just my imagination.

Meanwhile, regarding the parallel topic in this thread about future fuels, believe it or not I did consider that when I went for the deisel. In a post-apocalyptic or climate - disaster future I can keep the old diesel running on waste grease, fish oil or whatever.

According to my personal observation over the years, maintenance is pure crap shoot. Some people are meticulous, some think vehicles are self maintaining, and everything in between. I've even observed some who keep their houses immaculate but have rolling dumpsters for car. And other observations that make no sense at all. People...

That goes for anyone who likes and/or uses oxygen. Chlorophyll is your friend.

No o2? My RV stove top won't work, my furnace won't run and we'll be gasping breath a low altitudes, not just at the mountaintops of our travels. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I've gotten really accustomed to having atmospheric oxygen!

Old coaches expiring? I thought this would be about obituaries for retired athletic trainers... But for the kind of coaches on wheels:

Expiring happens when maintenance stops. Most of the sub-systems like HVAC, cooking, sanitation all are made by 3rd party vendors and are common to almost all USA-made motor homes so replacements and parts are seldom orphan items. The "house" itself is a matter of carpentry skill and materials choices made by the manufacturer and expire only when water, sunlight and temperature swings degrade the materials.

Find a coach that makes you happy and that was built with the things you want or need to enjoy using it.

We bought new. It is a diesel class c sprinter. Were looking at older DP and decided we didn’t need something that big. And being a commercial trucker by trade I have learned that the emissions issues are getting better with the newer DEF using units then the ones with just DPF. This is just my opinion after owning several trucks with each configuration. So units in our price range were either 10-20 yr old DP’s or new sprinter diesel. So far so good. Love the unit. Get 15 mpg. Oil changes are half the cost. Tires are one quarter the cost. Leaving more money to use the RV.
