Onan 8k Genset (Reservoir Leak) Known Problem

A few months ago, I had the Onan 8k coolant reservoir replaced. It is a factory defect that was replaced by the the Onan Cummins repair shop.

The problem is with a brass fitting that is pressure fit into the thick hard plastic reservoir near the bottom corner. Since the thick hard plastic is at the point where the brass push on fitting meet, it's the plastic that gives way and cracks with heat/cold expansion/contraction. The brass and plastic expand and contract as different rates and huge differences in below freezing temps.

The tech pulled the reservoir and showed me right where the tiny crack was. It's a known defect. Warranty replacement cost (parts and labor): $900.00. Cummins/Onan have replaced dozens of these. Siince only the reservoir was leaking, it could probably run okay for awhile.

I want to know who pays for it the next time since they replaced it with the same thing?

I had the samething one month out of warranty the brass fitting split tank. My gen had to be dropped repaired and putt back and paid less than $500.00 total the tank was about $125. I was interested if they put the same design back in. If mine does it again I thought about putting a tank on the outside, probably for less than $50.
