Ooh that smell.......

Thanks for clicking in!

We left some food in one of the freezer compartments for about 8 months. With the fridge off, so not a freezer for 7.99 of those 8 months.

We typically leave the doors open, but I think they got closed at some point. (Gimme a break; she's too short to see in there, and I get regular bouts of CRS, or so m told....can't recall for certain)

Well now. I have scrubbed and emptied and scrubbed and so forth. And still.....open it and stand back. Not as far back as when I started, but I'm befuddled as to bring this to a febreeze commercial worthy ending.

I'd like suggestions. I'm open to hazardous chemicals, and at this point would be absolutely giddy if the label said it causes cancer, black holes, and extinction, - - as long as it works!

Or perhaps there is a simple simon solution.

Due to "access restrictions" (she's too short to deal with it sans balancing on a stool), it's my problem to solve.....

Thanks!

Maybe a couple open boxes of baking soda? The DW swears by it (and at me sometimes, but that's a different story)......

I had to clean out a residential fridge full of food that had been abandoned for a while with no power. I used hot water with a little Lysol in it, rubber gloves and a sponge. It may be more difficult with an RV fridge due to the fins and everything at the back but there shouldn't be any food residue there anyway.

Might try setting a fan where it can circulate air constantly through the freezer. I assume you have cleaned with weak bleach solution.
You could also try charcoal to help absorb the odor. (Along with baking soda)
You can also use the baking soda to clean.
Good luck!

I am told, if you wad up newspaper, fill the frig completely, it will remove the odor.

Reminds me of the smell just after Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi when thousands of pounds of chicken breast were all rotting after the warehouse they were in was demolished. UCK!

I don't know how old your coach is, but maybe it is time for a new refrigerator? Ya know that really cool fingerprint free refrigerator they have in Lowes that will just fit into the space where your stinking Dometic or Norcool is now? Ya know this may be your chance to show sweetie pie what a great husband you are!

Oh yea, it also reminds me of the bag of shrimp we forgot in the trunk of our car while working on Hurricane damage in the heat of Alabama one summer. Temperatures got up to 100 for a week at a time and the shrimp were way past done! Never did get that smell out until the day we traded the car in.

Good luck

Smell

My car got sprayed by a skunk a few years ago and the only thing that finally got rid of it was to spray it with tomato juice.

lynyrd skynyrd

Started with Charlie Daniels and The Allman Brothers when I was done with 60's and 70's rock. Skynyrd still floats my boat.

The song That Smell is from the Street Survivors LP, released just before the plane crash....

I have the original release album with the band members ironically standing in the flames on the cover, that was discontinued immediately after the crash, and replaced with a black background on the cover.....

I had that too before I sold all of my LP's.

The OP should crush some charcoal and put around on paper plates.

Somewhere I read a plate of coffeegrounds in the fridge will remove the odors.
