I would not recommend a lock box in the bumper but a realator's box .. These come in 2x2 styles.
The first two: One is a giant padlock. On either a trailer or a motor home there are many palces you can likely lock it various rods, arms, pipes and such, where it can not be easily removed..
The other is a "Screw to the wall" Box (I have one of those)
The other 2 is push button or dial combination.. Either way you set the combo.
You can pick them up at most any locksmith... Program the combination and either lock it onto something (A propane tank perhaps) or bolt it to something (the wall of a non-locking compartment is good)
now you have a key.. Just don't forget the magic number.

This works great and mounts in existing holes on the propane tank framework. Ever go to the storage facility and forget to bring your keys? I've done it more than once over the years and this has saved me every time.

Apparently, when I lock the top lock, she can still open from the inside, but it does not unlock the door, so after she closed it she was locked out.
So, we need some sort of lock box for outside the trailer, with a combination lock, that we can store a spare key in.
It would be REALLY nice if it was small and fit in the square bumper on the back.
Any suggestions?
I did a google search, and only got big lock boxes for the front for the batteries...

Ouch that one will last along time.

I use a cup hook, screwed into some wood along the back of my frig. All I have to do is remove the frig vent cover and remove the keys. The keys are up out of anybodies sight and out of the elements of mother nature. I've done this for over 20 years! Cheap too!

Exactly! This or any out of sight spot for a Hide-a-key solves the problem for a buck or less.

I also use the Realtor lock box. I attached in the propane compartment. All it has in it is the door keys.
I have the shackle mount.

Scott,
I forgot to ask. When you returned who was happier to see you?
Your wife or the dog?

We installed the Bauer EM in our Class A. The EM is needed due to the requirement to have the jam pins between the frame and door on motorized RV's:

The hidden spare key is just a good idea, but the electric lock makes coming and going SO easy...and the lock doesn't have that second lock that locked the OP's wife outside (locking deadbolt only)...
BTW, the standard TriMark lock has that locking latch much more for dealers than customers...those locks are keyed to one of a couple master keys. Only the deadbolt is individually keyed to the RV.
Safe travels

Problem with combo devices is you need to see what you are doing and if you need "arm extenders" and you do not have them you are stuck.
The supra push button ones avoid some of this but still issue.
For SB we have keyless access to shop and key for house in shop.
Double hide so to speak.
If you have a compartment outside that is key secure then spare keys are hidden in there for access to mh.
In a non secure place like taped to a wire bundle or hanging on a hook is the key to that compartment.
If toad is in play cross key meaning toad key in compartment and mh key on toad .
