Opinion on Fuel usage for 8.1 ltr

Can anyone tell me what kind of mileage to expect from an 8.1 ltr gas engine on a W22 Workhorse Chassis? It's with a 2003 36' HR Vacationer.

I used to have a 35' RV with a 6.8 ltr V10 but was not impressed with the horsepower so opted to sell it and buy an RV with the 8.1.

I've gotten 7.5 since I bought it new in '04. That's towing a Saturn Vue which limited the speed I could travel so I normally just drove about 60. I now have a Wrangler and will be interested to see what I get as there are no restriction as to speed or anything. Still, I'll probably just drive about 60. It seems to be a comfortable speed for my engine.

Does it feel safe at 85?
Just curious, not judging you.

*.! fuel economy

I do usually get 9. mpg but I do only drive 60 mph, so we enjoy mother nature and never hurry to the campsite, we just has fun.But anyone knows how the K&N air filter make any different on this 8.1 GMC engine.I will like to know.

I dont drive it that fast. Im not in too much of a hurry when in the drivers seat. (a sage tidbit I picked up on this board that has changed my outlook dramatically)
My father (a retired trucker) did on a recent trip. You can imagine the irony of me sitting in the passenger seat asking him where the fire was??
But the rig didnt wander, shimmy, drift, or feel nervous. RPMs were ~2600.

7.1 average over 60,000 miles calculated by hand. That's the number I use to figure the cost of a planned trip.

Some days are better, some are worse.

50,000 mile average is 6.9 mpg. Towing a Honda Accord and loaded to the max GVWR with stuff.

7.5 average over nine years towing and loaded 47K miles. Strong head or cross wind is the biggest factor in reduced mileage for me. I average 60 mph generally on interstates.

How'd you over ride the 76 mph speed limiter?

Best 8.5 mpg
Worst 6.3 mpg

Ive never felt a speed limiter and the speedometer isnt off more than a mph or 2. When I first got the rig I took it to ~85 to make sure it didnt have any ills. I was toying with my ODBII scanner when my father was driving and the speedometer func showed ~84 mph... consistent with the dash indicator.
