Our collapsible golf cart has arrived-how to insure it?

Our Kangacruz golf cart has arrived and am not sure how it insure it.

It fits in the back of the CRV.

My CRV policy (Esurance) doesn't mention (or I can't find) anything about content coverage.

The RV is with Progressive but not sure if/how that would come into play.

I am mostly worried about it getting totaled while in the back of the CRV. There are other perils when not in the car like a fire as well as liability in general.

Anyone else insure their golf cart? How?

My golfcart which is at our Fl. home, is insured for physical damage and lia. through our homeowners as a seperate item. Because we only use it inside our complex and not transported outside, I don't think that would help you.

Maybe call your insurance and ask them? I thought that was what they get paid a commission for. If the CRV gets totaled then the others insurance would be responsible, but then you have to worry about ui/ui coverage. Like I said, your agent should be the best one to advise you.

I think it depends on your state. In many places, those can be made road legal and if that applies, you would need to have a separate insurance policy. Other places It should come off your homeowners insurance, but most likely it can only be used on premises. Why not call your local golf course or DMV and ask them?

That's cool that it fits in the CRV. I would talk to Progressive. I have a Segway and my homeowners does not cover it because it leaves the property. The only insurance I could find for it was through Progessive under their motorcycle coverage. I pay $75 per year for comprehensive/theft and liability. I'm in Washington so your experience may vary.

And here we have the logical answer.

These forums are of great help and advice,,, for most things. But since different states have different insurance regulations, it would be wise to contact the insurance company to see what they say.

Since since its a vehicle of sorts and can move around on its own, you need to be concerned about loss/damage when its away from house or RV, plus liability for person or property damage as well. I think you need a policy similar what is issued for ATVs & gold cars. Your agent can fix you up.

I appreciate everyones thoughts. I am collecting general ideas before I contact Progressive/Esurance.

We do not have an agent. I bought the CRV and coach policies online.

We are full time without S&B anywhere so that is a factor.

I will have to call the general customer service line but the pessimist in me thinks the rep won't be familiar with foldable golf carts.

1st. Great looking cart!! Did not see them at the RV Supershow.

2nd. For the insurance part, why would it matter that it is a collapsible golf cart vs one that is not?

It will be interesting to hear what Progressive tells you.

Have fun !!

Kangacruz - Mini Golf Carts

They are in Ontario, Canada. Ray is very good to work with.

No USA dealers so we had it shipped vs in person pickup which came out to about the same $ once all the numbers were added up. It arrived fully assembled in a crate. Opened the crate, removed the tie down straps, and drove off!

Update:

Progressive sells golf cart policies via their motorcycle line. If you click on the quote for motorcycle a drop down list appears with other types of small vehicles and golf cart is one of them.

Apparently it cannot be added to my FT RV policy as a personal property type thing as those are only covered if in the RV or on the space where the RV is parked.

Prices start at $75 and go into the stratosphere. Mine will be about $80/year.

Esurance, whom my CRV is insured through, does not write motorcycle policies in South Dakota.

What model did you get? I also have a 2014 CR-V.
