We bought our ODA our membership in 2005 and have not found the 2 "upgrade" options since then to be worth the added cost FOR US. If you want to travel around the planet alot the newest offering may be just the thing for you. Our package gives us the 6 campgrounds in Michigan with lifetime membership for our kids as well so is right fit for us. Before you buy direct though, check Craigslist, etc because some people who found the various packages not to their liking sell cheap. If you do go to buy secondhand check the contract because I've heard some of them restrict the privileges when they get sold. Don't know for sure, just what I've heard around campfires.

BTW our biggest issue is when they do have something new, they call a members meeting without actually telling you the purpose is to convince you to plunk down more $ and then once your at the meeting they do the hard sell on you. Pissed me off. I'd be happier if they would just send me the info instead of wasting my time. At the meeting for the most recent upgrade the salesman was trying to hard sell an older couple that barely got in the door. The gentlemen was using a walker and the lady was pulling an oxygen tank. They got so fed up they finally said something like "do we look like we are in any shape to traipse around the world?"

Uh, there are two different Outdoor Adventures. One is described well above and I belong to it Same as Hochmuth1957. I have refused upgrades due .. Well no need or money to pay for it.

The other one I do not know so much about

Outdoor Adventures Inc used to be called Michigan Outdoor Adventures and is heaquarted in Bay City, MI.

As I said, i can not tell you anything about the other one.

Regarding OIA.. The campground in Richifield Twp (Davison) MI, is very nice, most of the park is very modern, many 50 amp sites, Multiple pools, Grill staffed by a professional cheif/cook. Put Put, and a host of other attractions epically for younger campers in the park.

The other parks I've been too were also nice but not nearly as nice.. Though they are improving them.. They just bought another park too, should be open, likely next year.

Mr. King buys parks that look hopeless and turns them into jewels. He is very good at it.

Thanks for the info. We toured the Davison location this past weekend. We had received a certificate from General RV when we purchased our TT and had to go get the card validated to get our 21 free nights of camping. Place seemed nice...didn't feel overly harrassed to purchase. As a matter of fact, when I flat out told him that this was our first TT, we'd never been camping and had no intention of investing any more money until we knew for sure that we enjoyed it, he stood up, said thanks for stopping by and walked away. Probably a good deal if you had the time to camp alot...just not ready to make another large investment. And as mentioned, when we got home we started looking online and saw all kinds of people had their memberships for sale, so i think we can do better picking up one of these memberships sometime down the road.

You defused the sales pitch soon as you said you're a newbie cuz the next thing is to ask how many weeks a year you camp, where you go, and how much you spend.
Happy travels and maybe we'll run into you this summer.
