Outdoor LED strip warped?

We just purchased this three-year-old Montana, and one of the thing wrong is that the LED strip outside, just under the awning, is warped.

What would cause this, and is it fixable, or do we need to replace the entire strip?

Is that a rubber backing that is all out of shape? I have never seen an awning with that.

Looks like the adhesive has softened from heat. Does the strip still work?

Yes, strip still works.

Hard to tell, since I haven't brought the ladder home to get a closer look, but it does appear to be a plastic or rubber backing, and it looks like it is installed by sliding it on from the front, and feeding it through the slide, all the way to the back.

I was thinking maybe older LEDs that were a little hotter, and maybe warped the backing strip that it holds onto while sliding through that slider?

Not common?

Mine is similar to yours but it sticks on with double sided tape. Not wrinkled up like yours. Looks like yours got really hot and deformed.

Neighbor has a ladder, I will try to catch him today and borrow it, and get up and take a closer look.

Finally got a ladder!!!

This strip is hard plastic, and it is sewed right into the tongue of the awning that slides into the groove on the trailer, so we are stuck with this until we replace the awning.

And upon closer inspection, I am sure it got VERY hot and warped. Makes me wonder if I can turn the lights on, let them get warm, bend the folds back down and adhere it to the trailer for a short-term fix. May not look perfect, but should look better.

Why I am not a fan of the strips, I like the idea and the light but they just don't seem to last. Have two strips failed after 2 years.

Have seen a more modern version today at the Hershey RV show. They pull the strip through a hard clear 3/8 tube then mount the tube. You could probably do the same thing and use real small pull ties to attach to awning, that way it is a straight line.

That is kinda what I was thinking about doing. The power wire is already there, just find a new strand that works on the same voltage, cut this old one off with a dremel or tin-snips, and put a new strand up there. Even a cheap Harbor Freight strand would look better than this warped one.
