Now that I have the new RV some buddies and myself are taking it several states away for a college football game. We have three nights at various hotels during the trip. I have two rooms at each hotel for 4 of the guys to sleep. I will sleep in the RV which I plan on parking at the back lot of the hotel out of the way. My questions are, is parking there ok? Should I shut my gen off after 10:00 or is it quiet enough not to bother people? It's an onan micro quiet 4,000

Ask the motels, they're the only ones that can answer that since they own/manage the property.

You may want to call the motels before finalizing your plans. We made a trip a few years ago where we basically we wer in a caravan with a couple of other rvs and some people traveling in cars and vans. Some of the motels we planned to stay at did not want rvs parked in their lots overnight - a couple got pretty nasty about it. Others were quite helpful tellling us where would be the best place to park, etc.

As the others have said, it is going to be up to each hotel/motel. Don't be surprised if some give you a flat "NO!".

Nor would I plan on running the generator much and especially not late at night. The Onan 4000 is not all that quiet and you are a non-paying guest. You ought to be doing everything possible to make yourself as unobtrusive as possible.

I would also suggest looking for other places to park, e.g. a local Walmart. Some place that has a policy welcoming overnight RVers. One source of free overnight parking info is overnightrvparking.com. There is a membership fee for the site, but each and every one of the 9800+ listings is verified. There are also other free sites you could use.

I agree most hotels will not let you park your RV in their parking lot. You need to call ahead of time and verify and also look to see what else is available in the area.

Than again, you are bring the hotels some business... Maybe call ahead and ask.

Thanks for the replies. I am a paying guest as I'm paying for one of the rooms for my son and his college buddies to stay in and two other guys are paying for a room so I'm hoping they let me. I googlemapped the place and all three hotels have very big parking lots and each a lot of room behind the hotel.

I will take the advice and shut down the Gen around 10:00 or so. Probably won't even need it as we'll be coming back from the bars late anyway and will probably go right to sleep lol.

If they have a Cracker Barrel next door, park in their lot. They usually allow it.

If you do get the OK to park your RV in the motel lot, I would suggest that you keep in stealth mode - i.e. don't advertise that you are staying in it by watching the TV or having friends coming and going. If it looks like it's just parked there, it will attract less adverse attention that may affect the motel's policy in the future.
